Basic Functions: Individual to have strong background of practicing in the engineering of turn-key manufacturing systems that were built to support various production requirements within the Appliance and/or Automotive industries. Practical knowledge of the manufacturing disciplines used within a job shop environment to build automated systems is also beneficial. Individual will be tasked with development of the Solid State Welding System Product Equipment for Lincoln Electric Automation.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Review designs and make recommendations for material selection and joint geometry based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and materials.
  • Lead Development of Equipment, Tools & ancillary devices for production readiness of Solid State Equipment.
  • Analyze data and conduct laboratory test.
  • Develop solutions and determine proper weld sequence for cycle time and part dimensional requirements.
  • Conduct solid state laboratory operations for the purpose of developing material and fabrication solutions that meet with customer’s cost, product specifications, and performance standards.
  • Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
  • Support customer development and service for friction welding equipment
  • Audit and evaluate fabrication vendors for adherence to standards.
  • Conduct feasibility projects and develop system prospects based on results. 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Field. Weld Engineering, Metallurgy and/or other principle degree preferred, but not required.
  • Two - five years experience (including co-op experience).
  • Complete PC capabilities, using MS office programs and others as required, and ability to develop computer programs or spreadsheets for specific analyses.
  • Previous work with welding equipment and materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous alloys preferred. (Solid state weld experience is a plus).
  • Prefer Certified Weld Inspector or familiarity with AWS code.
  • Effective communication skills for interaction with external and internal technical resources
