Position Summary:  In-depth knowledge and ability to create functional programs for industrial robotic systems; oversee complex systems analysis, design and development programs.  Collaborate with a small team of engineers at all stages of development, including requirements analysis, configuration, testing, and deployment.  Maintain smooth running operation through identifying and recommending improvement processes.  Responsibilities will include:  interfacing to industrial equipment, developing configuration and build scripts, maintaining existing products, documenting functionality and interacting with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure Wolf Cell Controller HMI
  • Create and configure boot disks with existing project tools
  • Adhere to Lincoln software standards and procedures
  • Download and troubleshoot software for basic ABB or Fanuc robot systems
  • Update build tools that assists in automating robot project software deployment
  • Maintain and update customer project files
  • Bring projects to closure while meeting time and budget requirements
  • Work "hands-on" with industrial robotic systems (ABB, Fanuc)
  • Proactively gather requirements directly from users & sales people
  • Form strategies to solve complex, ill-defined problems
  • Keep job knowledge current through continual studying of latest development methodologies and technologies
  • Maintain sufficient personal organization to enable effective multi-tasking and strong attention to detail 
  • Create build tools that assist in automating robot project software deployment
  • Provide training and support for other Lincoln Electric departments
  • Maintain, upgrade and retrofit  existing systems

Requirements

  • 5 to 8 years of experience working with industrial robots (ABB, Fanuc), and automation equipment
  • Direct experience with ABB or Fanuc robot platforms and their programming languages (Rapid, TP, Karel, etc.)
  • Industrial robotics domain knowledge (welding, cutting and other fabrication processes)
  • Experience with robot programing including the ability to plan and write programming code utilizing offline simulation tools and teach pendant programming
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming. Guardlogix experience is desired.
  • Self-motivated and capable of balancing speed and accuracy to achieve efficiency
  • Understanding of robot kinematics
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and manage multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to communicate complex procedures to other colleagues
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, ability to work well under pressure
  • Solid technical writing skills

  • Physical demands: Work is usually a mix of sedentary and walking.  Use of the telephone is extensive. In the office there is minimal reaching, bending and lifting in relationship to documents and stored records. When at a customer facility, there will be lifting, reaching, bending, dragging, pulling and carrying of parts and equipment.  This individual may have to walk long distances to reach the equipment within the customer’s facility.
  • Work environment: This individual may have to sit for long periods of time. The noise level is usually moderate. Traveling may be unplanned and immediate; hours may be irregular.
