Engineering Internships - Wolf Robotics


Wolf Robotics, LLC has been the industry leader, for over 30 years, in the robotic automation of welding, cutting, material removal, grinding and press brake operations.  We have provided industry solutions to the fabricators of construction, agricultural, mining, off-road, energy and transportation equipment.  Through the expertise of our personnel we develop numerous specialty products that increase productivity and maintain quality.  The innovative designs and solutions we create, are produced to meet or exceed our customer expectations. 


Wolf Robotics is offering an Engineering Internship experience to students.  The internship provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and also obtain practical design insight and lessons learned for future engineering career opportunities. The internship program requires at least 15 hours of work during the school year (scheduling is flexible around class schedules), and full-time employment during the summer months.  


This internship opportunity initially involves supporting the integration of large, custom robotic welding systems including mechanical and electrical assembly.  Exemplary candidates will have the opportunity to advance into Mechanical, Electrical, Software, or Applications Engineering departments. 


Applicable competencies and experience:



  • Machine and Mechanism Design
  • 3-D CAD or solids modeling experience (SolidWorks a plus)
  • Structural Analysis (FEA experience, Simulation a plus)
  • Project design team experience
  • Bills of Materials generation and coordination to Purchasing department
  • Interest to work “hands-on” in the assembly and testing area.



  • Electrical Circuit Design
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • CAD-based schematic drawing experience (AutoCAD/Electrical a plus)
  • PLC languages  (Allen-Bradley experience a plus)
  • Bills of Materials generation and coordination to Purchasing department



  • Control Systems
  • Real-Time Systems
  • Microsoft Embedded OS
  • Programming experience (.NET)
  • Object-oriented principles
  • Source code control (SVN)


Applications Engineering:

  • Aiding in designing customer solutions
  • 3D Modeling
  • Cycle time analysis
  • Welding reach studies
  • Customer correspondence 
  • General sales support
  • Robot kinematics and computer graphics.
  • Project design team experience (Agile and Lean methodologies).
  • Interest in automated software build and test
    • General continuous improvement


Technical Skills Preferred

  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical prints
  • Ability to use common hand tools, Digital Volt Meter and oscilloscope
  • Skill in the use of computers, specifically in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Ability to understand system layouts and/or technical manuals
  • Basic Solidworks skills a plus
  • Experience with GMAW and GTAW welding, Plasma cutting, and Laser cutting a plus
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required 
  • Foreign language skills a plus, particularly; Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese
