Position Summary:  The Supply Management Intern will be responsible for assisting the Supply Management team in meeting both departmental and corporate objectives. This individual will have the opportunity to become an instrumental part of daily purchasing activities, including processing acknowledgments, reporting, analytics, purchase order creation and maintenance, pricing negotiations, and supplier management.

 

Key Responsibility:

  • Assist/support purchasing department on a daily basis.
  • Participate in weekly supply management planning meetings.
  • Assist with supplier communications on daily topics.
  • Generate process and procedure documents for critical supply chain functions.
  • Assist Purchasing Lead with reporting of departmental objectives.
  • Interface with the suppliers on delivery and pricing targets.
  • Perform data collection, spreadsheet creation, and data analysis.
  • Assist with various forecasting and analysis as needed.

 

Qualifications required:

  • Coursework in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field
  • Solid analytical skills and self-motivated.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization and vendors.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Handle multiple activities simultaneously and ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Knowledge of commercial shipping methods and procedures
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system is a plus

 

Success factors/job competencies:  This position requires contact with a variety of people and personalities.  Close relationships must be developed and maintained with co-workers in the areas of Material Control, Engineering, Accounting, Project Management and Production.
