Manufacturing Engineer

The Lincoln Electric Company--Kaliburn location engineers and manufactures plasma cutting systems, plasma torches, plasma consumables and control system units for high-tech cutting applications. Building new products that constantly raise the bar in the industry is possible through a strong foundation of engineering talent such as mechanical, fluid dynamics, heat transfer and software engineers.

Primary function is to evaluate, develop and document manufacturing processes to provide greater productivity and efficiency. Secondary function is to participate in project management activities and progressively take on larger scope project management roles.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Work with management, process engineers, and lead machinists to understand all levels of manufacturing inputs in assigned areas and use this understanding to drive improvements
- Identify high waste activities and progressively take on leadership roles in activities to reduce waste
- Create fixture drawings using SolidEdge
- Actively participate and progressively take leadership roles in team-driven activities related to continuous improvement such as Kaizen events, 5S, Process Flow, Cost Improvements, etc.
- Lead small group(s) of production/technical employees to determine root cause of problems; use problem solving tools to mitigate risk
- Perform work on machines and hand processes as part of learning process
- Develop and improve manufacturing plans based on capacity and resource utilization
- Improve manufacturing processes through statistical data analysis; lead improvement efforts
- Create standard work instructions and related documentation for manufacturing processes
- Participate in project management activities and progressively take on larger scope project management roles
- Participate in machine selection, planning, and runoff of purchased equipment
- Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires
REQUIRED SKILLS
- 2+ years experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- Advanced math skills including ability calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, volume, circumference and rate; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Self-starter, motivated and resourceful
- Detail orientated with a strong work ethic
- Results-driven with a focus to exceed goals and objectives
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
- Positive attitude with a desire to learn
- Knowledge of CAD, ability to learn SolidEdge
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Mechanical aptitude
- Experience in a CNC Manufacturing Environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, machine lubricants and chemicals used in cleaning processes. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
