PRIMARY FUNCTION

Develop, execute, and maintain plans for all production-related activities required to continually meet departmental targets including goal setting, issue identification and resolution, resource management, and succession planning.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor departmental metrics and take appropriate action based on results
  • Determine and maintain appropriate departmental staffing consistent with business objectives
  • Implement systems of communication to ensure the required information flows both within the department as well as to/from support functions
  • Ensure production personnel consistently comply with all safety, quality and process requirements
  • Evaluate individual staff performance and provide feedback on a regular basis
  • Partner with other Department Managers to implement continuous improvement initiatives in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and cost
  • Sustain departmental area improvements while monitoring established activities and processes
  • Balance resources to maximize departmental productivity
  • Resolve production issues that adversely affect departmental performance
  • Resolve employee grievances
  • Interpret and enforce all company policies and procedures
  • Perform general duties as assigned and assist in other areas as workload requires

 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment OR a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Results-driven with a focus to exceed goals and objectives
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to counsel and coach employees
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all functions in the organization
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and project management software

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

WORK ENVIRONMENT
