Position Summary

Purchase components, equipment, tooling, MRO items and services utilizing new and/or existing suppliers in support of the company’s operations. Ensures on-time delivery of goods and services at the lowest cost and conforming quality.  

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Prepare bid documents, solicit proposals, evaluate and make purchasing recommendation.
  • Responsible for lowest cost sourcing of assigned parts or service; including but not limited to MRO, make-to-print, commercial, etc.
  • Focus on on-time, specification compliant and cost effective execution
  • Participate in the evaluation of suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • Confer with Engineering and PM staff, users and supplier to discuss defective (nonconforming) goods or services, and determine corrective action plan.
  • Regularly follow-up with the selected supplier to ensure timely delivery. Escalates issue and participates in resolution
  • Support and coordinate with material planning group
  • Process work records as required
  • Maintain a clean safe working environment
  • Adheres to the company policies and procedures


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.  An Associate’s degree with 8 years’ experience may be acceptable
  • Certification as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is desired
  • Min. 8 years procurement / production experience, preferably in the machine tool or automation sector.
  • Certification as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is desired
  • Min. 8 years procurement / production experience, preferably in the machine tool or automation sector.
  • Basic Blue Print reading
  • Excellent understanding of Engineering Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Must have excellent organizational, administrative, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be capable of interfacing with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong team orientation
  • Business acumen and negotiation skills
  • Proficient is the use of automated ordering systems
  • Working knowledge of inventory and logistic processes
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, systems and processes.
  •  Personal computer training
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient with ERP system
