 Arc Products, a subsidiary of Lincoln Electric, designs and manufactures automated welding systems focused on fixed automation, orbital TIG and orbital MIG. Located in San Diego, California, Arc Products engineers and manufactures standard and custom automation systems for simple to complex applications. 

SUMMARY

Compiles and maintains records of business transactions and office activities of establishment by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Meet with vendors and suppliers to discuss current products, potential new products and services, availability and lead times, as well as quality of goods Review and evaluate vendor performance and qualification based on the pricing, quality of goods, ability to deliver on time, and customer service quality
  • Qualify vendors by implementing Lincoln Automation Purchasing group’s guidelines for large volume purchases
  • Analyze quotes, bids, and contract proposals to determine cost effective terms for facility needs
  • Interface with Lincoln Legal team when necessary for advice regarding contract review for possible consignment project
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers on pricing, lead time, terms, contract agreements
  • Generate and process purchase orders to buy production (inventory & non-inventory) goods, tools and supplies, office and warehouse needs
  • Oversee all purchases processed through various payment types: Invoice – Purchase Order/Net Terms, Credit Card, Direct Invoices – Non-Purchase Order/Service/Maintenance
  • Monitor all open purchase orders and contracts to ensure that vendors comply with current established terms and conditions, determine any necessary changes as needed
  • Review and approve Assistant Buyer’s Purchase Orders
  • Collaborate with Production and Machine Shop team leaders to coordinate the purchase and arrival of materials per each scheduled work order requirements
  • Work together with Engineering to determine various options for R&D project material sourcing
  • Source materials and request for quotes as needed for Production, Engineering, Service, and general shop requests
  • Assist Receiving and Accounts Payable department in reconciling invoices and reviewing any transaction discrepancies during the receiving order invoice entry process
  • Communicate between Production staff and vendors to determine correct processes required to return defective goods and/or any requests for credit returns to vendor
  • Schedule and track miscellaneous shipments as needed for any product sampling purposes, product repair or service needs, drop-shipments to specified customer locations,
  • Maintain records pertaining to purchased items, cost history, and delivery patterns
  • Compile reports as needed on material cost analyses, departmental monthly expense on supplies, annual usage inquiries, etc.
  • Travel as needed to purchase supplies for break and conference rooms, tools for production floor, laminations and other unique office supply requirements, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of work experience in a purchasing / planning environment and/or 3-5 years work experience in a purchasing / planning environment; medical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong oral and written skills and math skills.

 

 

Preferred

  • SAP knowledge 
  • Experience in a direct procurement and planning role
  • Solid knowledge of MRP system operations
  • Some experience operating in a make to order production system
  • Strong familiarity with MS PowerPoint, Excel and Word
