Application Engineer & Estimator

Fori Automation is seeking an Application Engineer & Estimator for our Assembly Division, reporting to the Director of Business Development, Assembly Division and working within our assembly estimating team. This position will primarily support new RFQ opportunities within the North American market.  



  • Experience with Quote requests and consequent development of innovative assembly processes.
  • Strong ability to work and communicate effectively within the Fori team, as well as customers.
  • Detailed cost estimating of custom designed & manufactured system experience ~ Automotive assembly experience preferred with an understanding of suspension systems.
  • Assembly processing capabilities, including layouts and cycle time analysis.
  • Exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities with competing priorities.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Utilization of INVENTOR or ACAD for development of tooling concepts and layout drawings.
  • Working level and competency in Inventor and/or 3D ACAD.
  • Comprehension of mechanical and control prints.
  • Passion to” think outside the box” of traditional manufacturing methodologies and to provide groundbreaking ideas for assembly.
  • Technical degree and/or 8+ years’ experience required.


Daily Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):  

  • Review & respond to new project RFQs, customer inquiries and engineering changes.
  • Complete detailed time studies, layouts and cost estimated based upon your developed process.
  • Support and participate in both customer and internal line-up meetings and be able to present in formal customer reviews.
  • Participate in cross functional team meetings and be able to provide innovative solutions to problems and issues as they occur within the afforded budget.
  • Ability to manage your time effectively to complete tasks on time.
  • Prepare responses to RFQs and RFI’s in the form of cycle time sheets, layouts and quotations, ensuring the best technical and commercial solutions are used.
  • Attends sales and marketing meetings and internal training sessions as required.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Director of Business Development.
  • Willingness to work in the office and occasionally at a customer plant.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:  Technical, Proposal & Estimating; as well as Engineering and Assembly System Design background. Know-how in Mechanical and Controls aspects. Demonstrated past Engineering, Estimating and Conceptual Designs for customers, English proficiency,

LEVEL OF EDUCATION: Must have a Technical Degree and 5 years of relevant experience or 8+years of automotive assembly experience including processing & estimating.

TRAVEL: Travel is minimal; approximately ~1%
