Position Summary:  

Responsible for procuring manufacturing materials, tools, supplies, and services, in accordance with approved Engineering Sales Orders (ESOs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and defined procedures. Obtains Request for Quotes (RFQ) and negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements.  Performs follow-up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of critical parts.  Meets with existing and prospective suppliers and tours their facilities to determine compatibility with company’s needs.

                 

Responsibilities:

  • Process ESOs and ECOs on a daily basis;
  • Negotiate price, terms and conditions with suppliers;
  • Purchase parts and select shipping method based on delivery date;
  • Ensure that parts have been acknowledged and have promise dates from vendors within a week of PO Issue date;
  • Work closely with cross functioning departments and supplies to resolve any issues with ESOs and ECOs;
  • Support technicians in field by processing emergency orders;
  • Knowledge of suppliers, costs, terms, and current lead times;
  • Participate in Project Kick-off meetings, Build Review meetings, and Engineering Huddles;
  • Research and resolve invoice problems;
  • Strategic sourcing;
  • Run quarterly Supplier Report Cards and analyze data for accuracy prior to meeting with suppliers;

Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field
  • 2-5 years’ experience purchasing for a manufacturing company
  • Computer literacy required.  Microsoft Office preferred
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Manufacturing Resource Planning II (MRP II) system
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures
  • Ability to perform extremely detailed work with a high degree of accuracy in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as a team player and to carry out assignments accurately
  • Basic knowledge of reading mechanical prints.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiar with mechanical print for fabricated parts.

  • Physical demands: Work is a mix of sedentary and walking. There is extensive use of a computer terminal, keyboard and telephone.   • Work environment: Normal office environment, with some time spent on manufacturing floor and visiting suppliers.
