PURPOSE: Performs departmental functions at an intermediate level.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

 

  • Make repairs and adjustments on mechanical assemblies.
    • Proficiency with basic hand tools ( Allen wrenches, Hammers, Punches)
    • Basic understanding of mechanical components (metric and standard fasteners, socket head cap screws, button head, hex head, flat head and dowel pins)             
    • (+) Operate a forklift safely and competently                                                                      
    • (+) Add/Repair drilled, reamed, and tapped holes.  Install keenserts and helicoils.
  • Perform dimensional inspections of machined components using various measuring devices
    • Basic measuring tools (Ruler, Tape Measure)      
    • (+) calipers (digital, dial)                                                               
    • (+) outside micrometers and depth micrometers, and telescoping gages.
    • (+) inside micrometers and Vernier calipers
  • Conduct measurements of mechanical assemblies to aid in troubleshooting, repair and adjustment with Faro portable coordinate measuring machine.             
    • Conduct a probe calibration on a Faro Arm.
    • (+) Measure mechanical assemblies using portable coordinate measuring machines and validate them to design intent using CAD or drawings.
    • (+) Interpret Faro arm data and perform tooling adjustments based it
    • (+) Troubleshoot assembly related tooling issues using Faro Arm.
  • Provide detailed dimensional layouts with bridge style coordinate measuring machine.
    • Create and calibrate a probe set on CMM. Manually measure a part using the CMM.
    • (+) Create a manual measurement program for the CMM.
    • (+) Create an automated CMM program for a part using basic probe rotations
    • (+) Create an automated CMM program for a part using basic GD&T. Create an automated CMM program utilizing saved/recalled alignments.      
  • Perform inspection duties utilizing blueprints     
    • Able to convert between Metric and Standard units.       
    • (+) Interpret and read blueprints
    • (+) Determine conformance of a product against applicable documents (ex. Print, work instructions, Purchase orders, specification’s)
    • (+) Communicate inspection results internally as well as with our customers.
    • (+) Detailed understanding of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Utilize 3D CAD system for inspection duties
    • Evaluate dimensions (angles, length, etc.)            
    • (+) Create simplified representations of assemblies.        
    • (+) Create drawings for parts & assemblies          
  • Documentation Control. Helps to ensure appropriate documentation is utilized and is complete
    • Completes documentation that is required by their task. No additional involvement
    • Completes documentation that is required by their task. Alerts others of missing documentation.
    • Takes the initiative to assist others in obtaining proper documentation as well as provide guidance related to its completion.

                                                                               

  • Attends Internal Inspection events. Helps coordinate, perform and report issue items that are discovered.
    • Attends audits and assists as requested.
    • (+) Active member of the audit team.     
  • Customer Communication
    • Is seldom identified as a point of contact for customer communication.  Relies on others to communicate to our customers.  Limited ability to answer customer's questions on the phone.   
    • Occasionally assists in communicating to our customers and providing information however still relies mainly on others for customer communications.  Needs reminded to follow up.
    • Regularly assists in customer communication on projects that he/she has worked on in the past. 

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

        • Minimum 2 year college degree or equivalent technical education or experience.
        • 2 years (minimum) performing quality department related functions in a structured manufacturing environment.
           
        • Fundamental knowledge of ISO9001
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products and common business utilities.
