Basic Functions: Provide PLC / HMI / vision, and intelligent actuator programming and de-bug activities to produce innovative automation solutions that meet customer expectations

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Start-up, de-bug, and refinement activities of complex automation systems
  • Communicate with colleagues, customers, vendors and others to ensure creation of robust controls solutions that support overall project objectives
  • Support manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and / or other customer requirements
  • Ability and desire to learn to produce electrical designs for automation equipment including PLC hardware / software selection & programming, motion control hardware / software selection & programming, schematic diagrams, pneumatic / hydraulic hardware selection and schematic diagrams, control system drawings, wiring techniques and basic electrical troubleshooting procedures
  • Reviews schematics with customer's representatives
  • Write and edit software code for machines, systems, and test fixtures in a timely manner
  • Assist manufacturing personnel during the machine/system build and testing phase
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite in support of activities
  • Ability to travel to customer facilities for machine installation & support

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, preferred, Associate degree with commensurate experience considered
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Desire to learn to design industrial machine control systems including safety systems utilizing 2-D CAD, Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to write and troubleshoot PLC code
  • Deep experience in writing, de-bug, and commissioning PLC logic and HMI code
  • Complete PC capabilities, using MS office programs and others as required, and ability to develop computer programs or spreadsheets for specific analyses
  • Experience in Robotics programming (Fanuc, preferred)
  • Experience using various intelligent devices including various PLC, Drives, Motion, Sensors, and HMI displays
  • Have knowledge and understanding of automation vision systems (Keyence, Cognex, Banner)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Good technical writing skills for generating technical documentation
  • Ability to speak effectively before group of customers, or employees of an organization
  • Ability to perform research testing/data gathering and interpret results
  • Advanced mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills
  • Thorough understanding of electrical manufacturing assembly techniques
  • Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing assembly techniques
  • Ability to use/understand or learn company software systems (i.e. IFS, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project)
