Summary:

 

The Engineering Technologist will work within the High Technology Products Team to develop or improve new and existing products.


 

What you will do: 

 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, hardware engineers, and QA, to understand project requirements and ensure smooth integration of DevOps practices into the embedded systems development lifecycle.
  • Design, build, and maintain automated pipelines for continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) of embedded systems software.
  • Create Docker images and containerization strategies to encapsulate software components and ensure consistency between development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain automated test setups and frameworks for embedded systems, including unit tests, integration tests, and system-level tests.
  • Implement security and code scan practices, including vulnerability assessments and code quality checks, to identify and mitigate potential risks within the embedded software.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability in collaboration with the operations team.
  • Collaborate with development teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, tooling enhancements, and automation to increase efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot issues in development and production environments, ensuring rapid resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging DevOps and embedded systems trends, tools, and technologies, and apply relevant advancements to our development practices.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

 

Required Education & Experience: 

 

  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering Technology & 5+ years of related experience.
    • OR Associates Degree in related field & 7+ years of related experience.
    • OR 15+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree. 
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role, with a focus on embedded systems development and deployment.
  • Strong familiarity with embedded systems architecture, design considerations, and hardware-software interactions.
  • Proficiency in setting up and configuring CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps or similar.
  • Experience with Docker containerization and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with security practices and tools for code scanning, vulnerability assessment, and secure software development.
  • Strong understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and branching strategies.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks for embedded systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
