Summary

The Corporate Industrial Hygienist (IH) is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling potential health hazards within the company's manufacturing facilities, including chemical, physical, and biological risks. The Corporate IH will work across the enterprise to conduct risk assessments, implement preventive measures, and ensuring compliance with relevant occupational health and safety regulations. The role is also responsible for our fume test laboratory, which supports the generation of data that informs company safety data sheets and product labeling. The Corporate Industrial Hygienist is a subject matter expert that will anticipate and monitor emerging regulations, develop corporate standards, and participate in trade associations on behalf of the company.

 


What You Will Do


•    Oversee the development of corporate health-based standards and metrics.
•    Implement and enhance programs, procedures, and training necessary to support industrial hygiene/evaluation and EHS management systems.
•    Direct industrial hygiene/evaluation processes and related projects such as exposure assessments, fume and product testing, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management.
•    Investigate and resolve health-related employee and customer concerns.
•    Encourage the development of manufacturing processes and product design changes that support an environmental, health and safety proactive culture and enhance good business practices.
•    Provide instruction as necessary related to industrial hygiene assessment equipment and its use in accordance with regulatory and recognized authoritative entities such as NIOSH and ACGIH.
•    Demonstrate experience and knowledge regarding industrial hygiene and environmental assessment protocols as well as industrial hygiene analytical techniques.
•    Serve as a regulatory expert on hazard communication regulations and provide guidance on safety data sheet content and product labeling.
•    Communicate and promote occupational industrial hygiene requirements and initiatives.
•    Participate in trade and standards organizations that have occupational safety and health in the welding industry as their charter.
•    Provide technical support to Cleveland and Mentor operations and act as a corporate liaison to all other global manufacturing facilities.

•    Manage the work of the technicians in our fume test lab, which generates the data needed to support research and development, product sales, and external customer requests. 
•    Assume additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s Higher Standard Strategy.

 

Education & Experience Requirements

 

•    Minimum education: BS in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, Toxicology, Environmental Health, or a related field
•    Preferred education:- MS or Professional Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Occupational Health & Safety, Toxicology, Environmental Health, or a related field 

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation or related - REQUIRED 

•    At least 8-10 years or more of related experience in an industrial segment
•    Strong understanding of occupational health principles, industrial hygiene practices, and relevant regulations 
•    Proficiency in data analysis, sampling techniques, and using industrial hygiene monitoring equipment 
•    Experience working in a global and matrixed organization with the ability to work with many different cultures and languages.
•    Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through interactions with teams, business leaders, governmental agencies and third parties.
•    Strong leadership/management skills, including high integrity and business acumen. 
•    Ability to engage proactively, influence and interact effectively with colleagues, senior management, third parties, etc. demonstrating Lincoln’s values and expectations and business-partner capabilities.
•    A self-starter with the ability to work independently and in a team and to manage numerous matters and competing priorities effectively.
•    Diplomatic and emotionally intelligent.
