Manufacturing Assurance Specialist

Primary Function

Provide assistance with products, personnel and parts to insure quality and that all production areas run efficiently and on schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with product troubleshooting if needed.
  • Supervise training and coaching of all employees.
  • Assist employees on the production floor when needed to keep production on schedule.
  • Review all warranties from the department and work with the appropriate support departments to implement the corrective actions required.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to help implement and continually improve processes within the department.
  • Resolve manufacturing problems that cause interruptions to production.
  • Verify that scrap generated during the manufacturing process is appropriately posted and assigned.
  • Review all rejections and take corrective action as required to assure quality and production.
  • Monitor flow of parts and take needed action to keep the production floor supplied with quality parts.
  • Support supervision with all EHS, ISO and housekeeping initiatives.
  • Assist supervision with reassignment of personnel within or outside of the department when needed.
  • May supervise department in absence of supervision.
  • Write Permission Notes and Change Requests when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.

  • Be knowledgeable of quality procedures used in the department and how they relate to the needs of the customer.
  • Adhere to the various procedures, specifications, and ensure compliance with these standards.
  • Ensure that stated quality procedures are being followed.

Skills and Aptitude

  • High school graduate or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience/understanding of operations or processes performed within the department.
  • Must have excellent people, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must have an uncompromising attitude toward quality.
  • Must be able to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks.

Other Requirements

  • Excellent attendance, safety and work record.
  • Working knowledge of Just-In-Time and lean manufacturing, pull scheduling, Six Sigma, process excellence, and KANBAN production and manufacturing floor control systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP computer system.
  • Proficient in the use of the Cenit Connect and Excel spread sheets.
  • Rotating Shifts as required.

Safety

  • Advise supervision of safety or environmental hazards within the department, and help implement the corrective actions required.
  • Support supervision in ensuring that employees are following stated safety practices.

Training

The Supervisor/Manager shall determine when an individual has completed the training and is qualified to assume these responsibilities. The Supervisor/Manager shall ensure that the employee receives “on the job training”, and the following training at the appropriate times. See Lincoln specification RE150 for training requirements.

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS)

  • Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
  • Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
  • Work in a safe manner and observe all company EHS, and JHA procedures.
  • Follow safe equipment operating procedures and only operate equipment when guards are in place and in good condition.
  • Know that the company EHS procedures are contained in reference books, such as SSW Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets, which are located in the Foreman’s area.
  • Immediately notify the Production Team Lead if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS, and JHA procedures.
