Scope
- Oversee the setup and coordinate operations of the Packaging Area, which is responsbile for customizable solutions to welding parts and accessories.
- Reports directly to the Operations Manager or designee.
Responsibilities
Primary duties to perform this job include:
- Supervise employees and make sure they are working safely while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineering to help implement and continually improve processes within the department.
- Must be responsible for all paperwork related to the work centers: i.e. details, schedules, test sheets, pay sheets, production reports, change sheets, shortages, repair jobs, audit reports.
- Inform the Quality Assurance Department of non-conforming parts and quality issues seen in the operation.
- Coordinate stop ships from the area, rework returned products, and the return of log sheets.
- Set up and assist along with troubleshoot on changeovers of products made in the Packaging Area.
- Assist in the supervision of the Department and authorized to make decisions as needed.
- Enforcement of Company Rules and Regulations with disciplinarian action.
- Review, understand, and follow the departmental procedures, E Specifications, SSW Specifications, and Plant Rules and Regulations that are associated with the performance of this job.
- Ensure the correct use and maintenance of tooling, equipment, and supplies.
- Supervise schedule manpower to meet daily production needs including documenting no shows and absentees.
- Maintain merit rating records as instructed by Operations Manager.
- Obey all safety rules, maintain the cleanliness of the work area and perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or designee.
Equipment:
Be proficient in the use of all equipment associated with the Packaging Area.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
- Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations as well as the Companies Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
- Work in a safe manner and observe all company EHS procedures.
- Follow safe LOTO equipment operating procedures and only operate equipment when guards are in place and in good condition.
- Know that the company EHS procedures are located in SAP and also contained in reference books, such as: SSW Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations. Safety Data Sheets can be accessed by Operations Manager or Shift Supervisor or designee and are located at Security.
- Responsible in ensuring team-members training is current.
- Immediately notify the Operations Manager or designee if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS procedures.
- Submit all Departmental Incidents into Quest with 24 hours of actual incident.
- PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT – Follow the personal protective equipment policy detailed in Plant Rules & Regulations EHS560 & 580.
Skills, Aptitude and Abilities
- Highschool Diploma/GED required
- Ability to read, write, and perform general math to maintain accurate job-related records.
- Comfortable using standard computer applications for documentation and reporting.
- Capable of interpreting job specifications, procedures, and related documentation.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
- Works independently with minimal supervision and maintains a proactive approach.
- Willingness to mentor and develop team members to enhance overall performance.
- Possesses hands-on mechanical skills and troubleshooting ability.
- Able to manage daily operations and provide clear direction to team members.
Training:
- Training will be provided under the direction of the Operations Manager or designated personnel.Employees will receive safety training in accordance with RE150 2-24 requirements.
- Additional on-the-job training will be conducted in collaboration with experienced team members.
- The Operations Manager or designee will determine when training is complete and the employee is qualified to assume full responsibilities.
