Scope

  • Oversees day-to-day operation of kitchen operations.
  • Reports directly to the Cafeteria Manager.

Job Description Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads, organizes, and schedules daily cafeteria activities and services.
  • Acts as indirect supervision and resolves work task related problems.
  • Oversee cafeteria and catering operations when the Cafeteria Manager is absent.
  • Manages staff, schedules, and inventory.
  • Ensures food quality and consistency.
  • Involved in menu planning and training.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and order in the kitchen environment.
  • Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting any issues to the Cafeteria Manager.
  • Assists in all areas of cafeteria operations including serving areas and cashier duties.
  • Provides training and assistance to less experienced employees.

Basic Requirements

  • Culinary degree or diploma from a recognized culinary school is preferred.
  • 5+ years on-the-job training and experience in professional kitchens or cafeteria operations.
  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of food preparation techniques, recipe conversions, food composition, nutrition, food and labor costs.
  • Menu planning and inventory management experience.
  • Advanced cooking techniques and food safety knowledge.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent attendance required.
  • Must possess good organizational and communication skills.
  • Team oriented, self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
