Summary
We are seeking a visionary and accomplished Senior Technical Fellow with deep expertise in welding, automation, robotics, and materials science. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping Lincoln Electric’s technology strategy, mentoring the next generation of engineering talent, and driving high-impact innovation across global teams.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Leadership:
- Develop and maintain long-term technology roadmaps aligned with business strategy.
- Lead the identification and evaluation of emerging technologies and acquisition opportunities relevant to Lincoln Electric’s growth.
- Drive cross-functional innovation across welding, automation, robotics, and materials domains.
Project & Program Management:
- Lead and manage high-risk, technically complex projects from concept to commercialization.
- Apply robust project management methodologies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Collaborate with global and remote teams to ensure alignment and execution excellence.
Talent Development & Mentorship:
- Mentor and coach engineers, technologists, and early-career professionals.
- Lead initiatives to recruit and develop high-potential talent.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Strategic Business Planning:
- Develop business cases and investment plans for new technology initiatives.
- Partner with business units to align R&D efforts with market needs and customer value.
- Support M&A activities by identifying and evaluating strategic technology acquisitions
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Welding Metallurgy, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in welding, automation, robotics, or materials engineering.
- Proven track record of technical leadership, innovation, and successful project execution.
- Experience working in cross-functional, global teams and managing remote collaborations.
Skills:
- Deep technical knowledge in welding processes, automation systems, discrete and continuous manufacturing operations, and advanced materials.
- Strong strategic thinking, business acumen, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, inspire, and lead technical teams.
Preferred Attributes
- Recognized thought leader in the industry (e.g., publications, patents, conference presentations).
- Experience with technology scouting, IP strategy, and external partnerships.
- Familiarity with digital manufacturing, AI/ML in industrial applications, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
