Summary

 

The Technician will assist in the planning and construction of facility related projects throughout the office, lab and factory areas of the Cleveland Operations.


•    Provides support to project managers and engineers in areas such as construction, safety and process improvement.
•    Work as part of a team in a hands-on environment to implement improvements, changes and upgrades in all facility areas
•    Implement, improve and support EHS efforts to improve the working environment
•    Handle small to medium sized projects and support facility capital projects with some supervision
•    Independently prioritize, manage and complete Facility Requests from our internal customers
•    Must be able to assembly, or develop the skills to assemble, office work stations, tables, desks, filing cabinets, chairs and other furnishings per project demands
•    Must be able to, or develop the skills to, operate facility equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet jacks) for small facility material handling needs
•    Engage with stakeholders and building occupants to provide pre-construction communication updates regarding planned construction activities. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to temporary relocation planning for occupants and their functional spaces to achieve project goals, utility disruptions during construction, defining construction zones and temporary barriers within buildings, changes with access and egress routes during construction, construction noise mitigation through isolation or scheduling of construction activities.
•    Serves as back up to other Facilities Team members, as needed
•    Typical assignments may include, but are not limited to:

  • Layout a factory, lab or office area and develop a budget for the project
  • Supervise and assist in the management of contractors for construction projects
  • Oversees and/or coordinates final completion of outstanding punch list items.
  • Coordinates moves for final occupancy and project completion.
  • Source products or material for projects 
  • Resolve safety, environmental, and ergonomic issues
  • Ensure the removal, modification, and installation of equipment
  • Conduct contractor safety orientations
  • Participate in additional assignments as assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

•    Vocational Training and 5+ years’ experience required; or GED with 7+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).

•    Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience in construction

•    May act as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work of others but is not a supervisor
•    Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
•    Capable of performing hands-on work as required
•    Demonstrated experience with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•    Experience with AutoCAD is beneficial
•    Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•    Demonstrate good judgment and make good decisions
•    Self-motivated, and safety conscious
•    Strong organizational skills
•    Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities
•    Good computer skills
•    Strong written and oral communication skills
•    Ability to occasionally work overtime, off shifts and between facilities in Northeastern Ohio
•    Ability to be effective working extensively in any area with employees or contractors.
