PURPOSE: To assist reliability engineers in reliability R&D group.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Create test and validation setups for component, subsystem and machine levels that exhibit safety focused, professional quality, ergonomic, and environmentally responsible methods.
  • Work can be electrical, mechanical, industrial or chemical in nature depending upon background and job assignment.
  • Use lab equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition, recording and analysis, environmental chambers, vibration tables, EMC related, etc.(training provided as needed).
  • Communicate and work proficiently with other engineering and technical staff.
  • Interact professionally with external resources such as test labs, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Compile and maintain test and validation reports.
  • Assist engineers in addressing failure modes using test methods such as HALT, DOE, ALT etc. (training provided as needed).
  • Gather, format, compile and maintain technical data using established formulae, algorithms and procedures to perform detailed mathematical calculations.
  • Make recommendations for improving test efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Work with engineers on warranty, scrap and cost reductions, and reliability assessment and prediction projects.
  • Support and suggest projects that align with strategic corporate goals or programs.
  • Review progress and perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed by supervision in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Level II:

            Vocational Training & 3+ years of related experience or,

            High School Diploma or equivalent & 5+ years of experience in related field

  • Level III:

            Vocational Training & 5+ years of related experience or,

            Associates Degree in related field or,

            High School Diploma or equivalent & 7+ years of experience in related field

  • Has full proficiency in a range of technical processes or procedures (or deep skills in a single area) through job-related training and considerable work experience
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments
  • Acts as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Highly motivated, quick to learn, and safety conscious
  • Ability to organize and maintain a neat work area
  • Able to create and maintain detailed test records
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with minimal supervision given clear instruction
  • Familiarity with personal computers using the Windows® operating system
  • Ability to use common laboratory equipment
  • Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, schematics and test specifications
  • Capable of lifting 60 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Good hands-on assembly, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Easy to get along with in a group and team environment.
  • Electrical/electronic experience is a plus.
  • Good attendance record.
