Responsibilities
- Safety, workmanship, product quality and productivity in the work center.
- Comply with plant rules/ regulations, factory, operation and test specifications.
- Understand and perform associated quality procedures used to process items in work center.
- Supply your designated slide line WC(s) with quality parts and kit setups for the jobs tasked in a safe, orderly, and accessible manner.
- From the provided picklist, ensure accurate quantities for all listed slide line parts for the job.
- Form components to maintain a parts supermarket and supply the lines requiring formed parts when needed.
- Follow proper stock replenishment methods and maintain stock rotation.
- Serve as the main contact between the production office and slide lines for all part shortages, part concerns, job priority, scheduling, and production concerns.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and QA.
- Support 5s, quality, new product, and new process initiatives.
- Perform duties as otherwise assigned by the Operations Manager.
Capabilities
- Understanding of JIT and Kan-Ban supply practices.
- Ability to recommend bin quantity changes.
- Ability to obtain and return component from/to fixed location and Vertical storage units.
- Ability to form or program components to fill production order or re-fill Kan-Ban supply.
- Supply required components in bins onto set-up carts delivered to assembly staging areas.
- Return carts, bins, and any remaining components to designated component prep locations from tear down racks.
- Ensure component supply purity.
- Interact with Supervision, Maintenance, Manufacturing and Plant Engineering to resolve equipment and/or procedural problems.
- Ability to use and interact with SAP to review MPN reports, DNA reports, and production orders.
Skills and Aptitude
- Moderate electronic / mechanical aptitude.
- Able to setup and understand various cut-off, forming, pressing, and chip programming equipment.
- Read and understand specifications, pick-lists, work instructions and assembly prints.
- Possess excellent organizational skills.
- General math skills to fill order multiples, record earnings and post piecework on a daily basis.
- Moderate hand dexterity.
- Must be able to sit stand, or walk for a full shift.
- Understand and embrace culture of lean manufacturing and 5S.
- Must have an excellent attendance, safety and work record.
- Must have interpersonal skills required to work closely with scheduling, manufacturing, and QA.
Quality
Knowledgeable of all quality procedures used to process items in work center. Ability and knowledge to meet all written specifications and prints, and ensure compliance with all standards. Comply with factory spec for first piece check.
- Maximum weight lifted - (infrequent basis) - 60 lbs.
- Maximum weight lifted - (repetitive basis) - 5 lbs.
Training
The manager shall determine when an individual has completed the training and is qualified to assume these responsibilities. The manager shall ensure that the employee receives the training outlined in RE150-9-08 under WC 5117.
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
- Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
- Work in a safe manner and observe all company EHS and JHA procedures.
- Follow safe equipment operating procedures and only operate equipment when guards are in place and in good condition.
- Know that the company EHS procedures are located electronically in SAP and also contained in reference books, such as, SSW Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations. Safety Data Sheets or SDS’s are available electronically in the Supervisor’s area. During an emergency, they can be accessed electronically at Security.
- Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS and JHA procedures.
- Make sure all containers of chemicals used for this job are compatible with the material in the container and are properly labeled with a GHS Label and stored per company policy when not in use.
- Make sure all equipment spills, leaks and chemicals are properly contained and cleaned up and trouble call entered for repair.
- Best efforts shall be used to reduce, reuse or recycle waste while performing the duties and/or tasks associated with this job and segregate waste per company policy.
- Participate in EHS initiatives as required by department and employee objectives and goals.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follow PPE requirements as prescribed in the Department 9-08 PPE Chart.
