Position Summary:  The Engineering Manager is responsible for meeting the long and short-range engineering goals as well as overseeing the program management goals of the organization.The Engineering Manager is responsible for providing the General Manager and other senior management staff with current information about the environment and the technical needs.  This individual is responsible for the controls, software automation and mechanical mechanical engineering aspects of the organization. . 

 

This person has the authority to hire (as authorized) and terminate employees assigned to Engineering disciplines; counsel employees; purchase equipment and services as approved by the budget; recommend marketing strategies to the General Manager. Decisions that must be referred to the General Manager are: purchases of equipment not previously approved in the budget; signing of all contracts and agreements; additional staff not previously authorized and all major policy changes.

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees the company’s long range strategies and objectives as it relates to engineering projects and program management.  Advises, explains and counsels senior management staff, managers and supervisors concerning technical strategies

  • Identifies the company’s ability to meet the needs and wants of its customers
  • Participates in contract negotiations with customers
  • Conducts or coordinates training programs for the department(s)
  • Represents the company at various industry functions and meetings
  • Performs normal supervisory/managerial functions in accordance with established company policies and procedures;  directs, motivates and develops subordinates to improve performance and capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; facilitate open communications and the team concept
  • Conduct written performance evaluations of assigned employees using proper evaluation and documentation methods resulting in goal setting for and with the assigned employee
  • Prepare for and attend regular company meetings and management meetings.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the General Manager.

 

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or management position
  • Must have an advanced understanding of engineering management, goals and objectives; must have extensive knowledge of the customer base and understand the requirements of potential customers
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate a leadership role and project a positive attitude
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as needed; travel is involved.

 

Qualifications desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering

  • Prepare and oversee the engineering and program management plans for Lincoln Electric Automation’s short and long term objectives
  • Develop, retain and motivate a competent professional staff capable of meeting established production and quality goals in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Develop and utilize problem identification and resolution systems.
  • Keep the General Manager and other senior management staff informed through timely verbal and written reports.
  • Represents Lincoln Electric Automation at public relations activities and other external functions.

  • Work environment: Work is a mix of sedentary and walking.  Traveling is required to visit locations throughout the United States as well as Canada, Mexico and other international locations in order to meet the needs of customers and other external contacts.  Hours may be irregular. 

 

Wage Rate: $96,096.00 - $178,464.00
