Lincoln Electric Company, has an outstanding opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator for our Hamilton, Ontario facility. The EHS Coordinator will abide by and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of natural resources and the Health & Safety of all employees.

Major Responsibilities

  • To report directly to the General Manager, Burlington Automation on an ongoing basis and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to EHS.
  • Foster a culture of continuous health and safety improvement in alignment with the Lincoln Electric Higher Standard across the facilities by sharing best practices.
  • Conduct EHS Orientations for all new hired employees.
  • Teaches, trains and advises new, existing and returning staff on policies and standard operating procedures for the health and safety systems.
  • Establish and ensure the coordination and/or conduct all internal and external EHS training as required.
  • Evaluates and monitors health and safety risk management and enforce health and safety policies.  Provide implementation support for health and safety processes, practices and action plans.
  • Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents and related events. Track, record, report and investigate all incidents that occur onsite and identify possible root causes.
  • Perform regulatory and best practice-driven hazard/risk assessments and develop action plans to drive improvement.
  • Assist with updating/create company policies and procedures in accordance to regulated changes made within our sector.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of health and safety corporate initiatives as required.
  • Maintain the administration of our health and safety programs into our corporate database Quest as it relates to the assigned facilities.
  • Schedule and participate in both workplace inspections and Joint Health and Safety Committees as assigned.
  • Lead and assist in any internal health and safety audits and help obtain, maintain and update any EHS ISO related systems.
  • Process workers compensation documentation and file form 7’s on behalf of the company. 
  • Conduct and oversee all early and safe return to work (ESRTW) protocols for employees on WSIB or other injuries or illnesses.
  • Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as EMS, MOL, insurance personnel and LECO.

  • To participate co-operatively as an employee within the company’s GPMP and Merit Rating System.
  • To actively participate in company, staff or individual one-on-one meetings on an ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and progressive co-operation strategies within the department as well as other departments across the company.
  • To continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implementing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • To conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the General Manager in a timely and professional manner.
  • To be available by phone (text/call) or email for emergency purposes outside regular working hours as described in the right to disconnect policy.

Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Min 2-3 years relevant experience in manufacturing
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple project and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish professional relationships with employees
  • Ability to travel to multi sites

Experience

  • Knowledge of EHS Management Systems  
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and standards
