Position Summary
The Quality Analysis Manager is responsible for overseeing all activities related to steel material receipt, chemical analysis, and warehouse operations. This role ensures accurate chemistry verification using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) equipment and drives continuous improvement, digital transformation, and strategic initiatives to optimize material traceability and process efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Analysis & Equipment Management
- Oversee operation and maintenance of quality equipment and related analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of results results.
- Maintain calibration processes for quality equipment and associated standards procedures
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement preventive maintenance plans.
Team Leadership
- Directly manage and develop direct reports.
- Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, Procurement, Safety, Operations, IT/MES, and other QA teams to align processes and standards.
- Support new product development and material qualification initiatives.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement short-term improvements
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for long-term departmental transformation.
Digital Integration & Traceability
- Lead digital transformation initiatives to achieve full traceability of steel materials within production systems.
- Collaborate with IT/MES teams to integrate data systems and enhance reporting capabilities.
Steel Analysis
- Manage all aspects of Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES) testing for steel chemistry verification.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for sample preparation, instrument calibration, and analysis workflows.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards for chemical composition testing.
- Interpret and validate OES results against material specifications, identifying deviations and initiating corrective actions.
- Train team members on OES operation, troubleshooting, and best practices for accurate readings.
- Monitor instrument performance, maintain consumables inventory, and coordinate service with vendors.
- Drive continuous improvement in OES processes, including automation opportunities and error reduction strategies.
Warehouse Management
- Oversee steel warehouse operations, including layout design and flow optimization.
- Ensure compliance with safety and inventory control standards.
Qualifications
Education:

- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Engineering (required).
- Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:

- 5+ years in quality, steel analysis, metallurgy, or related manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
- Preferred familiarity with OES or similar analytical equipment.
Skills:

- Strong understanding of steel chemistry and material properties.
- Knowledge of calibration processes and standards for analytical equipment.
- Digital integration technologies and MES systems expertise.
- Excellent problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
