Summary

Lincoln Electric is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support our Red Viking subsidiary based in Plymouth, MI. This is an on-site position supporting our Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) segment.  The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the technical execution of multiple Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) from kickoff to completion. This role focuses on ensuring AGVs meet RedViking’s quality, performance, and safety standards through industry experience and multidiscipline communication. The ideal candidate will utilize engineering principles to develop clear technical plans and effectively communicate them to the functional teams essential for project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review scope of work (SOW) and customer specifications
  • Develop technical specifications and plan for entire project
  • Assess technical project timelines and budget
  • Line up function teams
  • Critical Component selection and approval
  • Engineering document(s) creation and approval (FEMA, Risk Assessment, ATP, etc)
  • Technical liaison to customer
  • Develop product R&D needs 

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or CAD equivalent)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, etc)
  • Experience in manufacturing and automation
  • Emphasis on professional and technical communication
  • Ability to travel as needed to ensure project success: average of ~20%

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with AGVs and/or equivalent custom automation technology 
  • Must have appropriate flexibility, sense of urgency, motivation and versatility to make a direct impact on project success
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at one time
  • A wide degree in creativity and problem solving
  • Willing to learn new concepts and grow from previous experiences
  • Experience leading/supervising team
