Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, motivated, and hardworking Buyer to join our team. Under general supervision, the candidate will be responsible for managing relationships with suppliers of goods and services. Activities include developing purchasing strategies and execution of purchasing plans for intercompany, 3rd party direct and indirect good and services, as well as supporting continuous improvement of costs, quality, and delivery.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work cross-functionally to identify, evaluate, and develop qualified suppliers
- Identify and execute cost and working capital reductions by working with existing and new suppliers
- Create stock transfer requests and orders as required for intercompany materials
- Perform analysis to understand trends
- Report key purchasing metrics and take corrective actions where necessary to align performance to targets
- Negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
- Create and maintain purchasing master data in SAP for purchased materials including replenishment and planning data
- Secure purchase order acknowledgements and delivery dates and follow-up on late purchase orders to resolution
- Research price and condition discrepancies with suppliers to resolve issues
- Create requests for quote and purchase orders for indirect and direct materials and services as well as vendor managed inventory
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable and vendors to resolve invoice exceptions and ensure suppliers are paid on-time
- Provide suppliers with forecasts and production schedule information as needed
- Participate in cross-functional teams, including Production and New Product Development teams
- Ensure all intellectual property with vendors is protected through NDAs as required
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements
- Other tasks as assigned

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field of study.
- Minimum 3-5 years purchasing related experience or have demonstrated knowledge and/or skills to complete the job
- Experience and working knowledge of SAP
- Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of consumption-based and forecast-based planning methods
- Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures preferred.
- Ability to read product specifications with a good understanding of product quality standards
- Knowledge and ability to negotiate with vendors
- APICS certification preferred
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to perform effectively as a team player and to carry out assignments accurately
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate a strong attention to detail
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays when required to complete a project or company objective
