Job Responsibilities

  • Production Operators are expected to carry out their work safely and meet the high-quality standards required in a fast-paced and efficient processing environment. They will develop into multi-skilled operators through process ownership. Operators may be required to perform manufacturing activities on multiple products with varying specifications consecutively, such as in automotive manufacturing, where different vehicle models with unique specification variants are produced within a high-volume setting.

 

  • Production Operators will be responsible for preparing, controlling, contributing to, and completing manufacturing operations. They must follow manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) while adhering to specific safety policies and procedures. Lean Manufacturing Operators are required to maintain health and safety standards at all times, including wearing the correct personal protective equipment (PPE), using equipment and tools appropriately, safely stopping and resetting machinery, and keeping an organized work area in accordance with the 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain). They must also ensure safe disposal of waste in line with environmental systems and regulatory requirements.

 

  •  Production Operators are expected to contribute to, develop, and support improvements in manufacturing operations using continuous improvement methods, kaizen tools, and lean principles. They will also carry out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process to ensure quality is built in and to address any defects or concerns in line with relevant quality standards.

Skills

  • Understand statutory, organizational, and health and safety regulations for lean manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with compliance procedures like ISO 14001 and related environmental standards.
  • Recognise individual roles and responsibilities, ensuring flexibility to meet customer costs and delivery targets, such as Just-in-Time (JIT).
  • Adhere to and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lean processes
  • Monitor equipment, collect data, and implement error-proofing techniques to meet quality standards, such as ISO 9001
  •  Use effective problem-solving tools, like A3 reports and graphs, to resolve production issues.
  • Identify improvements in safety, quality, cost, or efficiency using lean tools like Kaizen.
  • Organize tasks effectively and pay attention to detail.
  •  Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Possess intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Maintain an efficient work site using the 5S principles (sifting, sorting, sweeping, and keeping it clean).
