Entry-Level Mechanical Drafter Designer

Summary

Fori Automation’s, a Lincoln Electric Company, Mechanical Engineering Department is looking to hire an entry-level Mechanical Drafter Designer to join our Shelby Township, Michigan facility. As a key team member, the candidate will work with our engineering team to produce and organize detailed drawings and designs.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Translating assembly drawings and create dimensional drawings using Inventor CAD software.
  • Organize and maintain drawing files, including proper documentation, project folders, and version control.
  • Perform 3D Inventor checking changes for assembly drawings, details, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Utilize standard reference details and apply consistent drafting practices.
  • Apply datum dimensioning principles for clear, accurate specifications.
  • Conduct mathematical stack-up analysis for component fit and tolerance assessment.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and component tolerance standards.
  • Adhere to Fori’s engineering standards, ensuring designs meet internal quality benchmarks.
  • Support inventory management, keeping engineering supply stocks up-to-date.
  • Download and accurately interpret product CAD data for further development.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in a technical field is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience or formal training in 3D CAD software, specifically Inventor or SolidWorks, is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge in algebraic calculations 
  • Previous exposure to mechanical engineering concepts, drafting standards, or manufacturing processes is a plus.
