Acceptable AI Use

At Lincoln Electric, we embrace innovation—including the ethical and legal use of AI tools (“AI”). We understand that some candidates may use AI to support their job search, and we welcome its usage, provided there is transparency and fairness in how these tools are applied.

Acceptable AI Use

  • Resume & Cover Letter Assistance: You can use AI to help format or improve your documents, as long as the content accurately reflects your own experience, skills and qualifications.
  • Interview Preparation: AI can be great for practicing interview questions or building confidence.
  • Application Support: Using AI to help answer application questions is fine—just make sure your responses are accurate and specific to you.
  • Other Assistance: Depending on the tool and use case, AI may be able to assist candidates with disabilities during the recruitment journey. If you require a disability-related accommodation during the application or interview process, whether AI-related or otherwise, please contact us at Careers@LincolnElectric.com. Requests will be handled confidentially and in accordance with applicable law.

What’s Not Okay

  • Submitting AI-generated content without reviewing or personalizing it.
  • Using AI to misrepresent your skills, qualifications or experience.
  • Copying and pasting AI prompts or outputs directly into application fields (e.g., including “ChatGPT prompt” in your response).
  • Using AI during virtual interviews or assessments unless explicitly permitted.
  • Uploading or sharing company confidential information to/with AI during the interview process.
  • Using AI in violation of any laws or regulations, including using AI content that plagiarizes others’ work or violates intellectual property laws.
  • Adding AI transcript agents to virtual interviews.

Transparency Matters

We may ask if you used AI during your application process and to certify your reply. This helps us ensure fairness and consistency in how we evaluate all candidates.

Our Use of AI

Where permitted, we may use AI in the recruiting process, including, but not limited to, helping screen applications, scheduling interviews, or matching candidates to roles. Rest assured:

  • A human reviews AI-generated decisions.
  • We follow strict guidelines to prevent bias, ensure accuracy, fairness and compliance, and protect your privacy.
  • You’ll be informed if AI is used in any part of your hiring journey.
  • Our recruiters receive training on legal and ethical AI practices.
