Cooperative Education and Internship Programs
For students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs, not only do we provide hands-on job experience, but we also offer exposure to a multitude of opportunities to enhance interpersonal skills. At Lincoln Electric, we value the enthusiasm and knowledge our Co-op Students and Interns bring to our Company.
In addition, students receive the opportunity to network with our knowledgeable professionals, get involved with the local community, and attend tours of our facilities. We also offer lunch and learn sessions and an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in our world-class Welding School.
Customer Solutions and Technical Sales
Working in Technical Sales means real world experience in the field with Lincoln Electric customers. Employees will update customers and distributors on new machine and/or consumable products, recommend new items for distributors to stock, address concerns and/or questions with distribution partners, promote Lincoln Electric products at distributor Open Houses throughout the region, and assist Technical Sales Representatives on training the end users on new products. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program, majoring in Engineering, Construction Management, or related Business field.
Engineering
Co-ops and Interns at Lincoln Electric are a key part of both the support of daily manufacturing operations and the continuous drive to develop the best manufacturing processes and new products for our customers. Succeeding as an engineer will require you to have a high degree of personal ownership and pride in your work, as well as enthusiasm and drive in all aspects of your role. You will use your technical knowledge, logical problem solving techniques, and a hands-on approach while working both independently and as part of a team in one of the following areas:
Chemical Engineering - Typical activities include: leading cost reduction initiatives, developing new manufacturing processes, assisting in equipment selection and developing cost analyses for manufacturing processes, to name a few.
Electrical Engineering - Typical activities include: designing, building and testing new products, developing safety systems for industrial machinery, and working with customers on providing solutions. The sub-disciplines that are a strong fit consist of: computer engineering, power electronics, electromagnetics, electronic design (analog and digital) robotics, and control systems.
Industrial Engineering - Typical activities include: establishing control systems for cost analysis and budget planning, executing quality control processes to resolve issues, and determining how to manufacture products or deliver services with great efficiency. Industrial Engineers work in a variety of areas related to the design and improvement in the way products are produced and delivered.
Material Science, Metallurgy and Welding Engineering - Typical activities include: designing and developing new consumables and processes with an emphasis on applied research and focused product development, prototype designs and application development, to name a few.
Mechanical Engineering - Typical activities include: assisting with equipment and integrated systems design using Solid Edge, identifying cost reductions, quality and safety improvement, robotics, daily problem solving or technical issues to name a few.
Mechatronics Engineering - Typical activities include: robot and weld gear installation and integration, hard automation equipment integration, leading cost reduction initiatives, developing new integration accessories and packages, assisting in controls and HMI development, and developing documentation around existing or new processes.
Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level engineering program, majoring in Computer, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, Metallurgy, or Material Science.
Finance & Accounting
Students will gain firsthand experience working through complex modeling decisions while learning essential skills and will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of a global company. You will also gain the ability to develop quantitative analytical skills and articulate complex financial issues, while objectively providing support based on business goals. Working with our team in functions such as Corporate Development (mergers & acquisitions), Cost Accounting, Investor Relations, or Payroll, you will gain valuable global and domestic experience. Students must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree, majoring in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or other related field.
Human Resources
Working within our Human Resources team, you will partner with our staff to provide a high level of service to our internal customers, both domestic and globally, promoting success, integrity, and collaboration across all business units. You will gain exposure to our benefits, compensation, HRIS, employee relations, communications, and talent acquisition functions, to name a few. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level degree, majoring in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications or other related field.
Information Technology
As part of our Information Technology team, you will gain hands-on technical experience in a variety of areas. Whether you are supporting our mobile device users, developing websites utilizing SharePoint, or assisting with ways to make our systems more secure, you will gain valuable and meaningful experiences to prepare you for a career in the growing IT field. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree, majoring in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business or other related degree.
Legal
As part of our Legal team, you will provide legal support to all facets of our business such as Research & Development, Supply Chain, Marketing, Human Resources, and Product Management. Typical assignments can include innovation review, Patent Review Board support, interfacing with outside counsel, maintaining and monitoring domestic and foreign filed patent/trademark dockets, or employee relations support. A Bachelor’s degree is required (technical discipline required for Intellectual Property positions). Students must currently be enrolled in an accredited law school.
Product Management
In Product Management, you will work directly in our Marketing Department assisting Product and Portfolio Managers on key initiatives and projects. Typical activities include marketing communications by creating and distributing posters, brochures, banners, and customer surveys. You will also have the opportunity to visit distributors' sites to enhance your understanding of customer interaction. Students must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level program, majoring in Engineering, Marketing, or related field.
