Summary
Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a Automation Applications Engineer to serve as a technical leader in developing robotic welding solutions that solve real-world manufacturing challenges. This role partners closely with field sales, engineering, and customers to evaluate applications, develop system concepts, and deliver compelling technical proposals.
You will play a key role in pre-sale application development, system costing, and solution validation, while also supporting post-sale engineering activities to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop robotic welding system concepts and proposals that improve customer quality, productivity, and labor efficiency.
- Partner with sales teams and customers to evaluate applications, parts, and production goals.
- Build cost models and project budgets that drive profitable solutions.
- Perform ROI analysis, cycle time studies, and system validation using simulation software and engineering analysis tools.
- Collaborate with Project Engineers and Design Engineering to translate proposals into executable system designs.
- Travel to customer sites to support projects and build relationships (typically 10–20%).
- Support in-house customer demos and facility tours.
- Contribute to the development of new automation concepts, standardized solutions, and emerging technology offerings.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in robotics, automation, welding, estimating, proposals, or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as applications engineering or technical sales is a plus.
- Will consider experience in lieu of degree.
- Understanding of system costing, project margins, and financial drivers in capital equipment projects.
- Familiarity with CAD, robotic simulation, or manufacturing analysis tools a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both engineers and business leaders.
- A problem-solver mindset with the ability to turn challenges into practical automation solutions.
