Summary

Position Overview
The Facilities Engineering team within Cleveland Operations is responsible for planning, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure that supports our office, laboratory, and manufacturing environments. Our work ensures that every space operates safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational goals.

As a Facilities Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in executing facility projects and supporting day-to-day operations. You’ll collaborate with project managers and engineers to implement improvements, manage construction activities, and coordinate logistics such as relocations and contractor oversight. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the reliability, safety, and functionality of our facilities while driving continuous improvement across all areas.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist project managers and engineers with construction activities, safety initiatives, and process improvements.
  • Communicate construction plans to stakeholders and occupants, including details on temporary relocations, utility disruptions, construction zones, access changes, and noise mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate in a hands-on team environment to implement facility improvements, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Promote and support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Manage small to medium-sized projects and assist with capital projects under limited supervision.
  • Provide support to other Facilities Team members as needed.
  • Independently prioritize and complete office-related requests from internal customers.
  • Assemble office furniture and workstations (e.g., desks, tables, filing cabinets, chairs) as required for projects.
  • Operate or develop proficiency in facility equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) for material handling tasks.
  • Typical Assignments:
    • Develop layouts and budgets for office, lab, or factory projects.
    • Supervise and coordinate contractors during construction activities.
    • Oversee completion of punch list items and ensure final occupancy readiness.
    • Coordinate moves and project closeout activities.
    • Source materials and products for facility projects.
    • Address safety, environmental, and ergonomic concerns.
    • Manage equipment removal, modification, and installation.
    • Conduct contractor safety orientations.
    • Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Basic Requirements

  • Vocational Training and 5+ years’ experience required; or GED with 7+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
  • Level IV; Vocational Training and 8+ years’ experience required; or GED with 10+ years in related field. (but does not require a university degree).
    • Selected candidate's Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience. 
  • Has advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience in construction
  • May act as a lead, coordinating and facilitating the work of others but is not a supervisor
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
  • Capable of performing hands-on work as required
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Demonstrate good judgment and make good decisions
  • Self-motivated, and safety conscious
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities
  • Good computer skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime, off shifts and between facilities in Northeastern Ohio
  • Ability to be effective working extensively in any area with employees or contractors.
