Purpose

Provides operational leadership across multiple areas or shifts, managing supervisors and cross functional workflows to deliver on safety, quality, productivity, and service goals.  This role partners with leadership on staffing plans, KPI reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead supervisors in managing the distribution center’s receiving, picking, shipping, inspection and inventory control functions.
  • Oversee inventory levels across the Distribution Center, ensuring accuracy through cycle counts, variance investigations, and physical inventory audits.
  • Analyze key performance metrics to enhance inventory accuracy and optimize shipping methods, eliminating roadblocks and improving overall workflow efficiency.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues in the warehouse, making timely decisions to minimize disruption to quality control, stock rotation, damage prevention, and customer service.
  • Plan material storage layouts and coordinate the effective movement of finished products throughout the distribution center.
  • Lead strategic projects and collaborate with support groups to improve distribution operations.
  • Maintain clear communication and strong collaboration with support groups to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of processes.
  • Supervise the distribution center employees, including hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions. Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to all employees as needed.
  • Maintain personnel records and resolve employee concerns, escalating to Human Resources as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist, as required, in all phases of receiving, motor carrier routing, inspection, shipping, and finished product storage.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and oversee physical inventory and reconciliation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, maintain a clean work environment, and perform additional duties as assigned in support of company strategy.
  • Support all internal and external audits, SOP updates, and change management for new processes or systems.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed

Basic Requirements

  • 4+ years relevant experience including 2+ years leadership experience 
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience 
  • Prior management or supervisory experience and/or some supervisory training required
  • Ability to supervise and manage all functions of the Distribution Center operations.
  • Able to communicate and deal effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Uncompromising attitude toward safety, environment, health, quality, and customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and motivational skills
  • Ability to handle employee and production/distribution issues in an efficient and professional manner
  • Must be able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job
  • Ability to initiate and implement change while gaining acceptance from employees
  • Familiarity with basic PC, mainframe data entry, and inquiry operations 
  • Familiarity with ERP's, Microsoft Excel, and time-keeping systems
