PRIMARY FUNCTION: Support the Machine Division Production Team and Drive Continuous Improvement.

 

JOB DUTIES

 

  • Support and execute continuous improvement activities to reduce cycle time, inventory, and waste while improving process performance, quality, cost, and standardizing the processes. 
  • Provides technical support to engineers in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development.
  • Technicians are expected to be able to handle small to medium sized projects and day-to-day shop support with some supervision. Assignments may be routine or non-routine and will typically involve a mix of analysis and hands-on activities. Larger projects and more technically challenging work will need to be supported by more experienced people inside or outside the department. Supervisors will determine the assignments.
  • Typical assignments may include but are not limited to:
    • Continuous Improvement initiatives
    • Resolving safety, environmental and ergonomics issues
    • Quality improvements
    • Process improvements and optimization
    • Cost reductions
    • Evaluation and implementation of employee suggestions
    • Shop support
    • Other assignments as assigned by the supervisor
  • Assure safe, high quality, cost effective, environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding machine products. 

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Vocational Training and 5+ years’ experience required; (but does not require a university degree)
  • Completes a variety of atypical assignments
  • Works within defined technical processes and procedures or methodologies and may help determine the appropriate approach for new assignments
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments and changing priorities
  • Good written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to be effective working extensively on the shop floor with employees and processes

 

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

  • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing experience desired

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

 

  • All employees will require at least three months On-The-Job training.  Once an employee is signed-off in the Manufacturing Engineering department, additional OJT sign-offs are not required as they are promoted through the engineering levels.
  • Additional training is dependent upon the area of responsibility assigned within the Manufacturing Engineering department.

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH & SAFETY (EHS)

 

  • Understand the Company’s EHS Policy and how it relates to this job.
  • Be aware of OSHA and EPA laws and regulations as well as the Company’s Plant Rules and Regulations that pertain to this job.
  • Work in a safe manner and observe all company EHS and JHA procedures.
  • Follow safe equipment operating procedures and only operate equipment when guards are in place and in good condition.
  • Know that the company EHS procedures are contained in reference books, such as SSW Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations, and Material Safety Data Sheets, which are located in the Department Supervisor’s area.
  • Immediately notify the Supervisor if there is any safety hazard, any equipment not operating correctly, or if there are any questions regarding EHS and JHA procedures.
