Purpose
Lincoln Electric is seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer to join our team at the Euclid, OH facility. This role focuses on driving process improvements, optimizing manufacturing operations, and providing hands-on technical support on the production floor for our consumables division. The successful candidate will leverage strong mechanical engineering expertise and industrial engineering principles to enhance safety, quality, and productivity in stick electrode manufacturing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate the application of industrial engineering principles to our manufacturing flow, layout, visual management, and overall effectivity of our safety, quality, and productivity goals
- Drive continuous improvement in a standard approach across all Consumable manufacturing departments
- Design and implement manufacturing processes and systems to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and reduce cost
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions
- Promote integrating manufacturing processes with technology
- Work with the support team and business stakeholders to translate wants and needs into technical requirements for system improvements
- Analyze production data to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
- Work with production teams to identify and resolve process issues
- Collaborate with quality control to ensure that products meet specifications and standards
- Develop and implement training programs for production teams on new processes and equipment
- Work with maintenance to ensure that equipment is properly maintained and repaired
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in manufacturing processes and systems
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s overall strategy
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; Mechanical Engineering experience strongly preferred.
- For level II Engineer, minimum of 3 years of experience. Has working knowledge and experience in own discipline. Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
- For level III Engineer, minimum 5 years of experience. Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions. Works independently; receives minimal guidance.
- For level IV Engineer, minimum 7 years of experience. Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization. Has specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own discipline or function. May lead functional teams or projects Has accountability for the performance of a team within own discipline or function. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
- Proven ability to apply practical process knowledge with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, installations, and testing.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
- Proficiency in mechanical design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and understanding of automation/robotics integration.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data for process improvement.
- Willingness to work off-shifts periodically to support production trials.
- Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
