Position Summary

The Paralegal, Litigation will provide wide-ranging legal and administrative support for the Lincoln Electric Legal Department. Key legal tasks and responsibilities include case management, legal research, drafting and editing of documents, conducting document discovery, helping with witness and trial preparation, participating in investigations, interfacing with outside law firms, maintaining legal files, and preparing reports about legal matters. Key administrative support will include managing electronic and hardcopy files, reviewing legal bills and processing invoices, and other general tasks to support the administration of the Legal Department. This position will primarily support the litigation and employment legal functions; however, it will at times support other areas of the Legal Department, as well as the Compliance and Government Affairs teams, or be assigned to manage related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Litigation/Discovery: Assist with tracking and managing legal matters; organize pleadings/filings; prepare quarterly and annual litigation reporting; help counsel prepare discovery responses, third-party subpoena responses, pleadings, and similar documents;  evaluate requests for information/documents, such as subpoenas, third-party document requests or requests from Lincoln Electric’s outside counsel; draft legal hold notices and implement the same, including designing and executing appropriate search parameters to identify responsive documents; verify completeness and accuracy of all case-related materials before submission.
  • Legal Compliance and Projects: conduct research on assigned subject matter; assist with internal investigations; prepare legal updates and communications for various internal stakeholders; organize and facilitate legal training sessions for other Lincoln Electric departments; update written policies and procedures
  • Administrative: drafting correspondence

  • Able to lead complex projects and drive to project completion.
  • Exceptional professional communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys and staff.
  • Preferred: experience in employment, compliance, corporate, environmental, toxic tort/asbestos, insurance or regulatory matters.  Experience with SAP platforms, including SuccessFactors and OpenText VIM. 

Qualifications

Requirements:

    • High School Diploma/GED required 
    • Paralegal Certification or Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies required 
    • In-office role 4 days per week, with flexibility to work from home 1 day a week if desired
    • 2-5+ years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department

Preferred:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies or related field 
    • Certified Notary
