Position Summary

Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting and leading aspects of the Company's global income tax accounting and reporting processes under ASC 740. This role participates in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, effective tax rate calculations, deferred tax accounting, uncertain tax positions, and income tax disclosures. The position also supports audit activities, tax process improvement initiatives, mergers and acquisitions integration, and compliance-related reporting requirements.

 

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented tax professional with strong technical tax accounting knowledge with multinational entities, analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across finance, accounting, and external advisors.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on level, responsibilities may range from execution of core tax accounting activities to serving as a subject matter expert and leading complex tax initiatives, process improvements, and cross-functional projects.

 

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in tax accounting, ownership of key deliverables, sound business judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset. This individual will effectively support financial reporting, audits, compliance, and strategic tax initiatives while independently solving complex issues, collaborating across functions, and driving process enhancements. Depending on experience and expertise, the role may also serve as a key technical resource, lead complex projects, influence best practices, and support the advancement of tax accounting processes and strategies across the organization.

Key Responsibilities (Continued)

Tax Provision & Tax Accounting

  • Prepare and consolidate quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740.
  • Review return to provision (RTP) calculations for foreign jurisdictions.
  • Calculate monthly, quarterly, and annual effective tax rates (ETR).
  • Prepare and analyze current and deferred income tax balances.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries related to income taxes.
  • Analyze deferred tax assets and liabilities and support related account reconciliations.
  • Perform valuation allowance analyses and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Review and update ASC740-10-25 (uncertain tax positions) analyses on a quarterly basis.
  • Perform quarterly ASC 740-270 analyses and updates.
  • Evaluate and model the tax impact of legislative and regulatory changes.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare income tax footnote disclosures for quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Assist with management reporting related to tax accounting results and ETR drivers and communicating results to stakeholders.
  • Support segmented financial reporting and tax planning adjustments.

Audit Support

  • Assist with quarterly and annual external audits, including coordination with external auditors.
  • Support federal income tax examinations and audit requests.
  • Participate in internal audit activities related to tax processes and controls.
  • Maintain documentation supporting SOX compliance and tax-related controls.

Key Responsibilities (Continued)

International Tax & Special Projects

  • Support tax integration activities related to mergers, acquisitions, and entity restructurings.
  • Assist with management service charge calculations and annual true ups.
  • Support global tax initiatives and cross-functional projects.

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, automation, and accuracy within tax accounting processes.
  • Assist with the implementation and improvement of tax technology tools and reporting systems.
  • Maintain and update tax department procedures, policies, and process documentation.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • 5+ years of corporate tax, public accounting, and/or tax accounting experience. Additional experience and demonstrated technical expertise may be considered for a higher-level placement.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 740 and income tax accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MTAX 
  • Experience with OneSource Tax Provision, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle, or similar tax/accounting systems.
  • Experience supporting multinational tax accounting and reporting processes.
  • Experience with AI tools and leveraging AI tools in the provision process.
