Purpose

Provide leadership and operational oversight for the Stainless & Nickel Department to ensure safe, efficient, and quality‑driven manufacturing operations while meeting customer, production, and Company objectives.

 

MUST be comfortable and willing to work rotating/swing shifts:  Day: 6:30a-2:30p, Mid: 2:30p-10:30p, Third: 10:30p-6:30a and have punctual attendance record.

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)

  1. Direct and coordinate daily production activities within the Stainless & Nickel Department, report directly to the Operations Manager.
  2. Review daily production schedules, equipment operation times, and staffing needs to ensure priorities are met.
  3. Execute established production priorities, including maintaining and updating weekly production schedules and work order sequencing.
  4. Proactively identify production, quality, or equipment issues; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  5. Ensure the effective movement of materials and proper use and maintenance of tooling, equipment, and supplies.
  6. Supervise department personnel on the assigned shift, ensuring safe, productive, and compliant work practices.
  7. Maintain employee performance and merit records; recommend personnel actions including promotions, transfers, discipline, or termination.
  8. Address employee concerns and disputes; escalate unresolved matters to the Operations Manager.
  9. Detect, address, and report quality non‑conformances; ensure adherence to manufacturing procedures, specifications, permission notes, and special-order instructions.
  10. Support Quality objectives by enforcing quality procedures and observing employee performance for compliance.
  11. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Methods, Maintenance, EHS) to improve manufacturing and departmental processes.
  12. Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, OSHA and EPA regulations, plant rules, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  13. Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed by leadership.

Basic Requirements

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, including prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  3. Demonstrate strong technical/mechanical acumen to assess and perform Root Cause Analysis and troubleshooting on manufacturing machinery; understand basic electrical and mechanical components.
  4. Working knowledge of production equipment used within the department
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word
  6. Willingness to learn and use SAP for basic production and scheduling functions
  7. Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills
  8. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and continuous improvement methodologies
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment
  10. Ability and willingness to support a rotating three shift operation
