Purpose

The Strand Annealing Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, monitoring, and maintaining stainless steel and nickel strand annealing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This position supports departmental objectives by maintaining product quality, process control, equipment performance, and material traceability while adhering to all safety and environmental requirements

Job Description (Duties and Responsibilities)

  • Operate assigned stainless steel and nickel annealing lines in accordance with established procedures and production requirements.
  • Set up and string-up annealing lines from WIP reel payoff through the take-up stem.
  • Change WIP reels and stems as required to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Monitor and maintain required line speeds, process temperatures, pre-coat concentrations, and acid concentrations per specifications and work instructions.
  • Maintain annealing tubes, pre-coat systems, and acid cleaning equipment in proper operating condition.
  • Identify and correct equipment or process issues that may impact product quality, safety, or productivity.
  • Perform alloy changeovers and maintain product traceability throughout the manufacturing process
  • Enter and maintain accurate production, quality, and traceability information within company systems.
  • Review, understand, and comply with applicable specifications, procedures, work instructions, and departmental requirements.
  • Move materials to designated inventory and storage locations while maintaining organization and product segregation.
  • Report mechanical, electrical, quality, and safety concerns through established reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality personnel to support safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Assist with cross-training and development of team members within the annealing area
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and follow all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company's business objectives.

Basic Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Manufacturing or industrial production experience preferred.
  • Experience operating production equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to understand and follow specifications, procedures, and work instructions
  • Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter production data
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to operate or become qualified to operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality
