Overview of the Program

Lincoln Electric’s Supply Chain Development Program offers individuals the chance to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings across a 30-month rotational program. Participants gain hands-on experience through five six-month rotations in the areas of: 

  • Strategic Sourcing
  • Supply Chain
  • Manufacturing Operations
  • Business Process Improvement & Systems (Transformation)

What You Could Work On

Throughout the rotations, participants gain exposure to core supply chain functions and develop practical skills that prepare them for full-time roles after the program. Learning opportunities may include:

Strategic Sourcing

  • Build an understanding of supplier markets, cost drivers, sourcing strategies, and the role of supplier partnerships in supporting business performance 
  • Learn how sourcing decisions influence cost, quality, risk, lead time, working capital, and continuity of supply 
  • Gain exposure to supplier evaluation, negotiation preparation, contract management, procurement compliance, and sourcing governance practices 
  • Develop analytical skills used to assess spend, supplier performance, sourcing alternatives, and opportunities for business improvement 
  • Understand how procurement master data, ERP processes, and cross-functional collaboration support effective sourcing and purchasing execution

Supply Chain

  • Develop a working understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, from customer demand through planning, fulfillment, logistics, and delivery 
  • Learn how service, inventory, cost, capacity, and lead-time tradeoffs are managed across a manufacturing supply chain 
  • Gain exposure to root-cause problem solving, operational performance management, and cross-functional issue resolution 
  • Build capability in supply chain analytics, KPI development, technology-enabled processes, and data-driven decision making 
  • Understand how logistics, packaging, transportation, and sustainability considerations contribute to customer service and total cost performance

Manufacturing Operations

  • Gain firsthand exposure to manufacturing operations and the connection between production, materials management, inventory, and supply chain execution 
  • Learn how material availability, replenishment processes, scheduling, and shop-floor support impact productivity, quality, and service 
  • Develop practical problem-solving and continuous improvement skills in a manufacturing environment 
  • Build experience working with operations, engineering, procurement, planning, and other functional teams to understand how business decisions are made on the shop floor

Business Process Improvement & Systems

  • Learn how business processes, systems, policies, and data standards enable consistent execution across procurement, supply chain, and operations 
  • Gain exposure to process documentation, change management, training development, and user adoption practices that support successful transformation 
  • Develop the ability to evaluate workflows, identify pain points, and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, usability, and compliance 
  • Build communication and presentation skills by translating analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders and leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing or having achieved a bachelor’s degree in engineering or business by June 2027 
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in any of the following disciplines: supply chain, engineering, finance, information systems, or a similar field 
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 
  • Desire to work in a manufacturing environment 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
