Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a Engineering Technicnian for out Fort Loramie, OH manufacturing plant.
The Engineering Technician is primarily responsible for robot programming, system debugging, and automation startup for complex robotic manufacturing systems prior to customer runoff. This role serves as a key technical resource for robotic integration, controls troubleshooting, and system optimization, ensuring all equipment meets performance, quality, and customer requirements before deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots, including path development, process refinement, and cycle time improvements.
- Debug and validate automated systems prior to customer runoff and shipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving robot programs, PLCs, HMIs, electrical wiring, safety systems, industrial networks, and fieldbus communications.
- Support startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities both in-house and at customer sites.
- Serve as Lead Technician on assigned projects, coordinating technical activities and supporting project execution.
- Maintain accurate as-built electrical schematics and system documentation.
- Assist in the development of technical manuals, training materials, and customer documentation.
- Provide customer training and technical support during installation and startup activities.
- Partner with Engineering, Production, Service, Sales, and Estimating teams to support project success.
- Mentor junior technicians and support team skill development.
- Ensure compliance with ISO procedures, quality standards, and company objectives.
- Take initiative to meet project schedules, budget targets, and customer expectations.
Required Qaulifications
- Associate degree or technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Robotics, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, controls programming, or machine integration.
- Experience programming and troubleshooting industrial robots with one or more of the following FANUC, Yaskawa Motoman, ABB, OTC, Nachi.
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms - Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, or Bosch preferred.
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and system debug skills.
- Knowledge of industrial safety systems, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and other industrial network protocols.
- Ability to travel for customer startup, commissioning, and training activities: approximately 25-50% travel required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
- Experience in robotic welding (MIG, TIG, Laser, or Spot) preferred.
