Job Summary
We are recruiting a mechanical engineering lead to join our engineering team and support the development of pre-engineered automation solutions and complementary products. This is a hands-on technical leadership role suited for an engineer who combines strong mechanical design expertise with the ability to lead projects and collaborate across disciplines.
The successful candidate will work closely with mechanical, electrical/controls, software, and robotics teams to deliver integrated, high-performance automation systems. This role requires a strong working understanding of how mechanical design decisions influence controls architecture, software behavior, and robotic system performance to ensure reliable, scalable, and maintainable automation solutions.
The ideal candidate is creative, inquisitive and analytical, with a strong focus on product innovation and continuous improvement. In addition to contributing technically, this individual will take on increasing responsibility for technical leadership, providing technical direction within assigned projects, guiding design decisions and trade-offs, coordinating cross-functional efforts, and mentoring team members, with a clear path toward a formal people management role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead design of automated industrial machinery and robotic systems, translating requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions.
- Develop, review, and approve 3D models, drawings, assemblies, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
- Apply engineering calculations, analysis, prototyping, and test data to support design decisions and ensure performance in harsh industrial environments.
- Support build, commissioning, production, and service activities, including troubleshooting and shop-floor issue resolution.
- Coordinate mechanical design with electrical, controls, software, robotics, production, and project stakeholders.
- Define and manage mechanical interfaces with electromechanical components, ensuring proper integration with controls, wiring access, maintenance, and robotic constraints (reach, clearance, repeatability).
- Lead or support design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA, test planning, and validation activities.
- Interpret and apply applicable compliance, safety, customer, and internal engineering requirements.
- Identify and communicate risks, assumptions, constraints, and issues with recommended actions.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Continued)
- Provide technical guidance to engineers, designers, interns, and technicians.
- Own and coordinate execution within assigned projects, including task delegation, progress tracking, and delivery to quality, schedule, and requirements.
- Support system integration, commissioning, and troubleshooting with emphasis on mechanical interaction within cross-functional systems.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, including root-cause analysis, engineering changes, and enhancement of standards, templates, and design practices.
