Business Unit
The Burlington Automation Division is responsible for providing integrated robotic plasma cutting solutions, focused on processing structural steel members used in high-rise buildings, data centers, stadiums, etc.
Burlington is further responsible for the provision of technical support to direct end-user customers for service / maintenance contracts and warranty-related solutions, as well as troubleshooting and problem solving with respect to customer issues.
The Automation Team is expected to deliver results while contributing to Lincoln Electric’s ongoing business activities and priorities, as well as meeting internal and external customer requirements in a timely, discreet and ethical manner.
Major Responsibilities
- This role will be responsible for driving quality into each step of production, from incoming material, to fabrication, to assembly, to finished product:
- Routinely inspect/verify incoming parts, material, WIP and finished product
- Assist in developing auditing measures for internal production at all critical stages
- Ensure all parts, internal and external, meet compliance within specifications
- Identify non-compliance parts and return/reject to the supplier or internal production team
- Ensure finished machines are 100% inspected and approved before shipping
- The Quality Inspector will work cross-functionally with engineering and production to increase product efficacy,
and reduce warranty and costs through process design, vendor selection, etc.- Formulate reports, provide metrics and/or dashboards to track the operational impact
- Audit current processes and request changes to prints and/or specs in a controlled manner
- Identify critical Vendor parts issues and create Receiving Inspection activity lists
- Visit sub-contractors to verify key dimensions for new parts and advise on improvements
- Ensure all quarantined parts are routed to designated hold area and scrap parts to scrap bin daily
Major Responsibilities (Continued)
- The Quality inspector must be familiar with the operation and use of all equipment used for quality assurance
procedures- Ensure the maintenance and housekeeping of all equipment and tools used for QA measurements
- Perform housekeeping to ensure the safety and clean environment of areas of QA activities
- In addition, this position will be a critical part of the effort to obtain ISO 9001 certification, including organizing and participating in internal & third-party audits.
- Will be responsible to establish, communicate and clarify what is expected from all departments within the Division to meet Quality Standards
- Fully abide and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of nature resources and the Health & Safety of all employees
- Participate cooperatively in the Merit Rating/Global Performance Management Program.
- Continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implanting continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
- Adhere to any Compliance policies and requirements.
- Conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Manager or senior management staff in a timely and professional manner.
Minimum Education, Experience & Training
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years relevant experience is required.
- Must understand the operation and use of all equipment used as per required procedures.
- Must be familiar with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with welding techniques/inspection strongly preferred.
- Understanding electrical schematics and wiring is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple project and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish professional relationships with employees.
