Purpose

Lincoln Electric has an available opportunity for a Process Engineer. We are seeking a reliable and motivated individual to join our team at our Mentor, OH facility. The successful candidate will excel at collaborative communication, applying knowledge and experience toward innovating and improving our MIG, SAW, and FCAW welding wire operations. This role involves working with cross functional teams using innovative and creative problem-solving skills to meet goals.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work on engineering solutions to improve the process and equipment to meet safety, quality, customers service, and cost metrics within the facility.
  • Engineer solutions that comply with ISO 14001, EHS initiatives, and any other applicable codes or standards.
  • Interface with all engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, supply management, finance, and R&D departments to ensure products and processes meet all applicable requirements.
  • Provide support to Production and Maintenance departments on a variety of machines and basic manufacturing execution software.
  • Monitor, evaluate, analyze, and determine corrective actions to correct lagging production parameters including but not limited to: productivity, first pass yield, warranty rates, part cost, indirect costs, backlog, etc.
  • Experience working & interacting with contractors, consultants, and vendors/suppliers as part of prototyping and development of process improvements.
  • Experience or familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Solid Edge, and MS Office software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of wire manufacturing and/or wire drawing is a plus.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s RISE Strategy.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering. Other engineering disciplines with appropriate experience would be considered.
  • For level II Engineer, minimum of 3 years of experience. Has working knowledge and experience in own discipline. Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Performs a range of mainly straightforward assignments. Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction.
  • For level III Engineer, minimum 5 years of experience. Has in-depth knowledge in own discipline and basic knowledge of related disciplines. May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or have accountability for ongoing activities or objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions. Works independently; receives minimal guidance.
  • Apply practical process knowledge with hands on approach to production troubleshooting, installations, and testing.
  • Able to create and modify mechanical drawings utilizing established standards utilizing SolidEdge CAD software. Training can be provided as needed.
  • Abel to develop process improvements, equipment improvements, and tooling design for existing machinery soliciting observations from Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering.
  • Be able to work as a collaborative team member or team leader on strategic projects.
  • Can work under general supervision with few direct instructions. Carries out routine and semi-routine tasks independently.
  • Interpret internal or external issues and recommend solutions/best practices.
  • Solve complex problems with assistance from senior engineers; take a broad perspective to identify solutions.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to identify new opportunities.
  • Must be willing to periodically work off-shifts to support Production trials.
  • Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
