Purpose

To oversee the setup and operations of assigned Cored Wire lines. This position will report directly to the General Foreman/Shift Foreman.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for support of production lines in Dept. 230 Cored Wire.
  • Inspect, maintain and assemble roller dies including multi-stage units in a variety of configurations.
  • Maintain any other tooling at the direction of Department Supervision.
  • Mix and recycle any lubricants or cleaning solutions required to supply all Cored Wire drawing lines.
  • Maintain liquid cleaning tanks.
  • Maintain sandblasters, vacuum systems, dust collectors, and water filters. Maintain records as required for meeting dust emission requirements. Maintain static free vacuum hoses.
  • Working knowledge of the complete line of parts that are used in the Cored Wire Department.
  • Maintain a safe inventory of parts in order to accommodate production needs.
  • Rework used parts when appropriate. Replace the parts that cannot be reworked. Ensure that all parts meet manufacturing specifications. Inform supervision if there is a problem with any particular part.
  • Paint color code tags and sweep floors, as required.
  • Support liquid and dry waste disposal including any requirements for handling hazardous waste.
  • Be familiar with the job requirements of the Cleaner B in the event of his absence.
  • Review, understand, and follow the departmental procedures, EW Specifications, SSW
  • Specifications, Plant Rules and Regulations and the Job Hazard Analysis that are associated with the performance of this job.
  • Obey all safety rules, maintain the cleanliness of the work area and perform other duties as assigned by the Production Team Lead/Shift Foreman.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s RISE Strategy.

Basic Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • Read, write and do general math well enough to keep the records associated with this job.
  • Understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job.
  • Self-motivated, safety and quality conscious; requiring minimal supervision.
  • Be mechanically inclined and able to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Work well as part of a team and get along with people.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Experience with Cored Wire manufacturing and wire drawing processes is helpful.
