We are currently seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer at our location in Michigan City, Indiana.

Job Summary

As a member of the Engineering staff, the Mechanical Design Engineer will design, test and develop, and maintain products, options, and accessories following company and industry standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist senior engineers with the design and development of mechanical components, subassemblies, and product assemblies.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Support laboratory and field testing activities, including test setup, data collection, and documentation.
  • Help analyze test results and field feedback to identify design improvements and reliability enhancements.
  • Support the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process by preparing documentation and coordinating updates.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Product Management, Sales, and Service teams to support new product launches.
  • Provide technical documentation and engineering support for existing products.
  • Assist Sales and Customer Support teams by supplying technical data, application information, and competitive product comparisons.
  • Participate in competitor benchmarking to understand market trends, product differentiation, and customer needs.
  • Support standardization initiatives such as packaging, labeling, and product specifications.
  • Support production by helping troubleshoot assembly issues and improving design for manufacturability.
  • Assist with training materials and documentation for Manufacturing and Service teams.
  • Help support product integration with evolving truck chassis platforms and OEM model year changes.
  • Occasionally assist with customer visits, trade shows, or field support opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of engineering and product initiatives.

Job Qualifications and Skills

  • Job-relevant college degree preferred, but will consider relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in design, troubleshooting, and analysis of pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic controls and systems.
  • Experience with automotive power train - work trucks, electronics, and  Batteries proficiency is a plus.
  • 2D / 3D CAD drawing environment experience (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred).
  • Must be able to juggle priorities effectively.
  • Must have a positive attitude and function well with group-oriented tasks.
  • Experience with a document control system such as a Vault is a plus.
