Business Unit
The Automation Solutions Group is responsible for providing engineered solutions, integrated systems, automation programming and technical support to Lincoln Electric’s ongoing sales efforts specifically focused upon fume extraction, flexible and hard automation products and services.
ASG is further responsible for the provision of technical support to direct end-user customers for service / maintenance contracts and warrantee related solutions, as well as, troubleshooting and problem solving with respect to customer issues.
The Automation Solutions Group is expected to deliver results while contributing to Lincoln Electric’s ongoing business activities and priorities, as well as meeting internal and external customer requirements in a timely, discreet and ethical manner.
Major Responsibilities
- To report directly to the Automation Production and Service Manager and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to assembly and integration of Automation Systems.
- Assembly of Robotic, Hard Automation and Environmental systems to ensure that all assemblies of systems meet customer requirements and system specifications.
- To provide trouble shooting, repair and technical support services as required.
- Troubleshoot and repair of Lincoln Electric Welding Equipment, Automation Systems and Cobots on and off-site including Warranty work.
- Provide technical support to production team and other technical staff
- Ensure each system/project is completed with zero quality defects and/or warranty issues.
- Maintaining a safe and organized work area.
- To establish and maintain a good rapport (relationship) with customers and suppliers,
- To maintain accurate and up-to-date monthly expense reports, call record (Service), mileage reports.
- To participate co-operatively as an employee within the company Performance Appraisal Process and Merit Rating System.
- To actively participate in company, staff or individual one-on-one meetings on an ongoing basis for the purposes of effective teamwork, enhanced communication and progressive co-operation strategies within the department as well as other departments across the company.
- To conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Service Manager or senior management staff in a timely and professional manner.
- To continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implementing continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
- To fully abide and actively support Lincoln Electric’s Environmental Health & Safety policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of nature resources and the Health & Safety of all employees.
Minimum Education Requirement
- College Diploma in Electro-Mechanical or Mechatronics
Minimum Experience & Training Requirement
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing facility with hands on background in Electro-Mechanical system assembly, testing and troubleshooting
- Strong Electrical and Mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to use lifting straps, rigs, cranes, fork-lifts etc. to safely position and fasten equipment such as robots, positioners guarding etc
- High level of expertise in using power and hand tools with excellent manual dexterity for wiring, soldering, and assembly
- Proficiency in reading, and following electrical drawings, engineering schematics, assembly manuals, and BOMs
- Ability to handle multiple job orders with constantly changing priorities, and strict delivery deadlines
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety Act & Regulations, including the safety risks associated with automated equipment
- Previous robotic and automation experience and knowledge of PLC programming are definite asset
- Must be able to travel throughout Canada, the USA and internationally as required by the Company
- Ability to focus, prioritize, multi-task, and follow instructions
- Must be able to build strong rapport with customers
- Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment
- Must be accurate and detailed/deadline oriented and require minimum supervision
- Must be able exhibit clear and effective communication skills
