Summary
Reporting to the Automation Production & Service Manager, the Automation Production & Service Supervisor oversees daily production and service operations for automation projects. This role leads manufacturing and service personnel, ensures project schedules and quality standards are met, manages inventory and resources, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The Supervisor provides both managerial leadership and hands‑on technical support as required.
The Automation Production & Service Supervisor will provide oversight for two facilities and will be required to travel to and from both: Waterdown, Ontario and Mississauga, Ontario.
Primary Responsibilities
Production & Project Execution
- Oversee production activities to ensure quality, safety, schedule adherence, and compliance with technical standards.
- Track and report labor hours, production output, productivity, and waste.
- Manage equipment, tools, materials, and production floor inventory.
- Coordinate CSA inspections for control panels and equipment upgrades.
- Lead production meetings, address backorders, and resolve equipment or scheduling issues.
- Support packing, shipping, troubleshooting, and in‑house or onsite commissioning as needed.
- Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting or installation support when required.
Service Operations
- Supervise service activities for flexible and mechanized automation projects, including warranty work.
- Prepare customer quotations for service, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Prioritize maintenance and repair work and assign appropriate personnel.
- Deliver customer and internal training on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Assign installation technicians in line with quoted project requirements.
Leadership & People Management
- Supervise manufacturing and service personnel including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, training, and development.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, WHMIS, 5S, and all legislative and company standards.
- Administer performance appraisals and contribute to merit and salary reviews.
- Address employee concerns and escalate unresolved issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate employee records and coordinate with HR as required.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with the Automation Production & Service Manager on production scheduling, quality, inventory, and process improvements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, safety, quality, and profitability.
- Verify subcontractor compliance with company requirements.
- Actively participate in team, departmental, and cross‑functional meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience: 3–8+ years of related production, service, or automation leadership experience.
- Travel: Estimated travel 25 - 50% with a high percentage to the United States. Valid Passport required and ability to work within the US.
