This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining welding expertise, customer interaction, hands-on testing, and automation technologies to help manufacturers improve productivity, quality, and operational performance.
You will serve as a key player supporting collaborative robots (cobots), industrial robotic welding systems, advanced manual and mechanized welding processes, and emerging manufacturing technologies. Working closely with customers, sales teams, product specialists, and engineering groups, you will transform customer challenges into practical welding solutions.
What You'll Do
Technical Responsibilities
- Lead development and validation of automated welding solutions involving cobots, robotic welding systems, and mechanized welding equipment.
- Develop welding procedures and application solutions for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other industrial materials.
- Evaluate new welding technologies and recommend implementation strategies.
Customer Support & Application Development
- Engage directly with customers to understand manufacturing challenges and production requirements.
- Design, test, and optimize welding applications that improve quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Support customer trials, process validation, and production implementation activities.
- Assist customers in troubleshooting welding and automation-related issues.
Automation & Robotics
- Support integration and deployment of collaborative robotic and industrial robotic welding solutions.
- Develop welding parameters, joint designs, and process strategies for automated welding applications.
- Collaborate with automation partners, integrators, and internal engineering teams to deliver successful projects.
- Evaluate robotic welding opportunities and provide application recommendations.
Demonstration & Training
- Conduct customer demonstrations and proof-of-concept trials.
- Present technical solutions to customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
- Deliver application training related to welding processes, automation, and best practices.
- Support trade shows, customer events, technology days, and workshops.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation
- Participate in development and adoption of next-generation welding technologies.
- Document application guidelines, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Identify opportunities to improve customer success and accelerate adoption of automation solutions.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Welding Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of practical experience in welding applications, manufacturing, or automation environments.
- Strong knowledge of GMAW and FCAW welding processes.
- Experience supporting robotic, cobot, or mechanized welding systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot welding process and production challenges.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotic welding platforms.
- Knowledge of welding procedure development and qualification standards.
- Experience with aluminum welding applications.
- Familiarity with welding codes and specs.
- Background in manufacturing process improvement and productivity optimization.
- Programming experience with robotic systems coupled with hands-on semiautomatic welding experience would be ideal.
What Makes This Role Exciting
In this position, you will:
- Work on leading-edge welding automation technologies.
- Help manufacturers solve complex production challenges.
- Influence the adoption of cobots and robotic welding across multiple industries.
- Lead customer demonstrations and technology evaluations.
- Build expertise across welding, automation, metallurgy, and manufacturing processes.
- Be recognized as a trusted technical expert and application leader.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is more than a robot programmer. They are a welding professional who understands manufacturing, enjoys working directly with customers, and can bridge the gap between welding science, automation technology, and practical shop-floor realities. They are equally comfortable running a weld test, presenting to a customer, troubleshooting a production issue, or leading implementation of a new automation solution.
