Position Summary
The PLM Engineering Systems Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and governing the engineering systems architecture that enables Lincoln Electric's Global Automation digital transformation strategy. Working in partnership with the Manager, Digital Transformation & Enterprise Systems Integration, this role translates business requirements into scalable technology solutions that connect engineering, manufacturing, finance, supply chain, and project execution across the enterprise.
As the technical leader for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and enterprise engineering systems, the PLM Engineering Systems Architect develops and executes the technology roadmap supporting integrated digital processes from product conception through manufacturing, project delivery, and aftermarket support.
This position serves as the primary technical authority for the integration of Siemens Teamcenter with SAP, Epicor Kinetic, Octave Sequence PPM, CAD applications, manufacturing systems, and other enterprise platforms to establish a seamless digital thread across the Global Automation business.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Technology Strategy
- Develop and maintain the engineering systems architecture supporting the Global Automation digital transformation roadmap.
- Translate business strategies into scalable technical solutions and implementation plans.
- Define technology standards, integration patterns, and architectural governance for engineering applications.
- Establish a long-term roadmap for PLM, engineering data management, and enterprise system integration.
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Leadership
- Serve as the technical owner and architect for Siemens Teamcenter.
- Design and optimize PLM processes supporting:
- Product development
- Engineering change management
- Configuration management
- Bill of Materials (EBOM, MBOM)
- Document control
- Product release workflows
- Ensure engineering data integrity and lifecycle governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities (Continued)
Enterprise Systems Integration
- Architect integrations between:
- PLM
- SAP ERP
- Epicor Kinetic ERP
- Project Portfolio Management (PPM)
- CAD platforms
- Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
- Business Intelligence and reporting platforms
- Design secure, scalable interfaces utilizing APIs, middleware, and modern integration technologies.
- Ensure consistent master data synchronization across enterprise systems.
Digital Thread & Engineering Data Management
- Develop an enterprise digital thread connecting engineering, manufacturing, procurement, supply chain, finance, and project execution.
- Standardize engineering data models and product structures across the organization.
- Define governance for engineering master data, metadata, revisions, and configuration management.
- Improve traceability throughout the product lifecycle.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical leadership for enterprise engineering systems projects.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend future-state capabilities.
- Lead technical design reviews, architecture governance, and solution validation.
- Mentor engineering system administrators and technical analysts.
Key Responsibilities (Continued)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Quality, and Project Management teams to align technology solutions with business objectives.
- Work closely with the Manager, Digital Transformation & Enterprise Systems Integration to prioritize initiatives and execute the enterprise technology roadmap.
- Collaborate with software vendors, implementation partners, and internal IT teams throughout project lifecycles.y
Project Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Lead technical execution of PLM implementations, upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
- Develop implementation standards, documentation, and support models.
- Identify opportunities to automate engineering workflows and improve system performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through technology innovation and process optimization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of experience implementing or architecting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions.
- Deep expertise with Siemens Teamcenter administration, architecture, and integration.
- Experience integrating PLM with ERP systems such as SAP and Epicor Kinetic.
- Strong understanding of engineering product structures, configuration management, and change management processes.
- Experience designing enterprise integrations using APIs, middleware, and modern integration frameworks.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, industrial automation, or engineered-to-order environments.
- Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Business.
- Experience with Octave Sequence Project Portfolio Management (PPM) software.
- Experience integrating CAD platforms with Teamcenter.
- Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) and Industrial IoT architectures.
- Experience with cloud-based enterprise platforms and hybrid system architectures.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevOps practices.
- PLM, SAP, or enterprise architecture certifications.
